Just a question for you all. I've used All-Glass lights all along, but I see there's a pretty good deal on Big Al's for Coralife fluorescent strip lights. Has anyone used the freshwater 65W compact or twin tube T5?

I like the fact that they both have highly polished reflectors and aluminum housings, but the prices make me pause. Only $57 dollars for the compact? Seems a bit low, but I'm OK with that if the quality is good.

I'm planning on putting a 30" strip light over a 29G tank.

I have the Coralife 48" 2 65w setup. Really like it. Before that I had the strip--liked that too, but I needed a bit more. I think they make very solid products at a good price.

I have a couple of the Coralife 24" compact fluorescent fixtures and I like them a lot. I just wish the electrical cord came out the back of the fixture and not the side so that the cord could be hidden completely behind the tank, but that's my only issue.

Got the twin tube T-5 fixtures on all my tanks. No problems-other than having to prune the plants every week!

Here are two of the twin tube T5's on my 20L (that is 30"):

Two heat the tank quite a bit, but one is very nice even with a glass top. I like them :).

Looks good, Ulan. I wouldn't mind seeing a picture of that tank straight on if you have one.

Wow, Ulan. That tank looks awesome! Thank you everyone for your responses. I think I know which strip I'll be buying now. Those T5s look great!

Just disregard the tank, as it's not really presentable at the moment. I just got a full bucket of plants out of there (1 huge amazon sword, a few aponogetons, all plants from the right side; the bottom was in permanent shadow) and want to rescape the tank today (some new plants are already waiting ;)).

The shot is from a slightly above angle, so you can see the light strips and the filters. The light strips are very flat. The included mounts don't allow for an elevated use of the lights. If you have your tanks in shelves, that's great :).
