turning off lights at night

I am not a big fan of haveing lighting on for more than 8 hours a day. With proper lighting most corals will absorb all the light they need and then some in 4-6 hours, so anything more 8 hours is just a waste of electric and food for algae to grow on.

i mever ment that they realy sleep, its just my clown fish and a few others, lie on the sand and dont move till morning, i just call it sleep because it looks like they are. ( the clown fish lies on his side, like his flexed out) lol

lol its ok i knew that i was just sharing some info i do that lol....sand isnt so safe though..always makes me leary with some of my fish lol.
 
I have to disagree about fish sleeping. My puffer will curl up on a rock and sleep most of the night. If he isn't sleeping, he is really really really still.

My other fish don't do that though. Must be a puffer thing.
 
What they don't? My fish at night are nowhere to be seen at night.
 
They hide as they are not able to see predators as well but the do NOT sleep!!!
