Rams died fish store won't replace!

If that ever happened to me, I would go ape s**t on the stupid *** for not knowing their job. And I am not the cleaner of the fish tank we have, hubby is. And for all the posts I have read here, I know that there will always be NITRATES in a fish tank. So do what everybody said to do and take back the readings or do them yourself and show the stupids and say what everyone else said. Or go above their heads and call whomever you have to (District Manager, Corporate Office) and be VERY VERY VERY assertive. And you dont have to take no for an answer..And they say customers ALWAYS right:mad2: :mad2: :mad2:

I wonder if your tank params were 0 AMO 0 ITES and 0 ATES they would still not refund your money and say well obviously your tank isnt cycled...lol. My LFS is pretty good you just have to be wary of some of the associates that work there one lady is still preaching the inch per gallon rule  Yea ill take that 12" arrowanda for my 29G oh and could you toss in some discuss...:dive:

I recommend that you write the owner a very polite letter stating your situation very clearly. Have someone neutral proofread the letter before you send it. Writing a letter is often the most effective way to get what you want from a company.

If you don't receive a positive response within a week or two, report the store to the local Better Business Bureau. If he doesn't already have a bad report on file with the BBB, that might get his attention.

Yes I was going to do this I'm waiting till I cool off alittle. You really would not believe how nasty this manager was it was incredible!

Definately stand your ground !
I just went through a similar problem with Python, talk about rude. I will tell you,I'm not stopping.

Remind them: A satisifed customer will maybe tell a couple of people,a disatisified will tell everyone who will listen>
As mentioned,if the store is Corporate owned,go over their head. If not find out when the owner is there and speak with them, bringing along any and all material showing them they are wrong.

I agree,it sounds like their way of NO GUARANTEE on their fish.

tail-light guarantee.... once you cant see my tail-lights, guarantee is over.

When im having to deal with stupid people like this, I will do anything in my power to make these people see that they are in fact the stupid ones.

Maybe its just a talent but I dont get treated like crap..... in any store.

Id walk over to one of their show tank and take a p*** in it.... then say "hey your ammonia level is too high over here"

GRRRRRRRR!!

I would call the cops. this is THEFT!! show them internet pages and test handbook about nitrites and nitrates and whatever and (hopefully) they'll force your money back (dont keep out that bugs crawled out the bag)!

Then the cops will have a record that the shop is either A) not doing their research, B) Lieing about the "money back guarranteed" thing and thus causing a kind of theft, and C) that its not up to standards seeing that a bag you were probably holding almost the whole time got a CENTIDPEDE in it!!

My LFS is nice, they have no refunds but give things like free quality flake refills. they still say the 1-inch-per-gallon rule, but they say that you should NOT use that rule in a smaller tank (less than 10g)... Atleast they know their nitrites from their nitrates and actually care for their animals! (the Bettas have jars about 7-8" high, bout 3" wide and have gravel and blood worms :)

Well the posted sign does say that nitrates must be zero for their guarantee to apply. Ever think that it isn't a typo, but a deliberate technique to avoid ever paying up on the guarantee?

If this is the case, it is a very unethical establishment; if the behavior of the employees is as described, that would be consistant.

I'd say you could take them to small claims court, but if the sign is as posted, they would just say they are complying with what they promised, even if you and I know it was intended to deceive knowledgable customers.

I think you should post their name, in order to alert others to what appear to be scam artists.

Yeah that is definitley a load of crap. How much were the fish? I would give you the advice of writing a letter also, I have found that that is the best way to get the results that you are looking for. I would also go back to the store, take a pic of the poster( if allowed, take three, one for you, them, and one copy as a backup) and send that along with a water test result from your tank as some solid proof. And you could probably send them this web page for there own reference and any other page that reads of nitrates/nitrites/ammonia.
Good Luck and may God be with you,
Tyler Uppole

P.S. Please put the name of the store, so every body can boycott them if they go there.
