I got some new additions on Saturday. I finally talked the wife into giving me some "allowance"! I got the two clowns, the zoanthid rock with the button polyps, and unknown thing shown in pic #2, the purple mushrooms and did I mention the unknown thing?

What is my little friend and should I be scared? Or should I just feed it because it is ever so cool to watch it eat?

At first glance, it looks like a hairy mushroom.

It's not a standard aiptasia, that for sure. But there are hundreds of species of aiptasias.

If the mushrooms around it recede when it opens, as it looks like in the photos, It could be either. If it gets really big in the next month or two, its an hairy mushroom (You want this, they cost a little), but if it stays small, it could be an aiptasia.

I don't think it is a mushroom. It grabs foos with its tentacles and puts it in its mouth. It almost turns inside out when it eats.

At my LFS they carry those, they are usually labled as a mushroom anenome.

They are a low light anenome (like aptasia only they are not bad) and are fairly easy to take care of. Just toss him some small meaty chunks a few times a week and he will get quite large, I have seen them there at about 3 inches across.

looks like some species of rock anem to me.
looking good!
