This is my very first mushroom so I am not very familiar with them (but I did read up on placement and feedings). I got a good deal on this guy since he wasn't attached to anything. I placed him in a cove like area so he can decide how much light he wants. He fooled me however. I thought I was getting a tiny .5" one and he has opened up to a full 2.2". Since my tank isn't that large he looks like a monster. Anyone know what type of mushroom he is? He seems like the common ones, just with stripes. He has been in my tank for three days.

pretty!!
Sorry, I have yet to get corals but thats a purty shroom...

Thanks ;) I appreciate the complement. Corals are very exciting, they are definitely something to look foward too. I went to a wonderful saltwater coral shop yesterday (never been there before) and was amazed at their selection. I could have spent hours there. Sadly I was only there to pick up some more test kit supplies.

looks healthy. with some more time it should double and kinda curl down a bit on the ends...looks nice and happy though.

Thanks, thats a big relief. This should be his max size hopefully? I still can't believe his size. I will have to take a full tank view later to show how large he is.

Also, any ideas on what mushroom type he is?

Good find! I think it is beautiful.

Thank you :D I was a bit bummed when I saw the prices for a couple on a rock (all rocks ranged from $40-70) so I am happy that this guy is doing well and will hopefully split later on. I never realized how expensive corals can be so the frags in my tank only cost about $5-12 each.
