Briany, welcome to AC! At the top of the newbie section there are some articles you should read; Before you get fish & The nitrogen cycle. Those will help a lot.
There is also a New Topic bar at the upper right (a blue bar on my screen). You can use that to ask a question. It will help us to help you to tell us as much as you can about your tank size, tap water, any fish you have or may want, but we'll ask you for info too. Don't be shy, we've all been new at some point.
There is also a "search" box at the top right where you can type in a few words to look for say, neons + temp, or betta + guppies. You'll get a ton of results, lol, but that can help you get more comfortable here.
