I just got two jewel cichlids yesterday and they have both gotten used to the tank and are getting along fine but this morning I realized that the female cichlid has a crooked mouth. I was thinking of returning that cichlid and getting a new one but was wondering whether my male cichlid would accept the new fish or just tear it up.

I think this would be a try and see situation. It depends on the individual fish and your setup in terms of space and hiding spots.

Are you sure that the other is a male?

^^ mouth to mouth fighting is worse with 2 males but pairs may do it too. Are you sure you have a true pair? How big are they? Pics?

It can help to totally rearrange the tank before introducing a new fish with such argumentative cichlids as jewels. What size is your tank?
