I have not posted here for a long time! I downsized my collection and somewhat neglected my 2 remaining tanks for a couple of years now. I love planted tanks with real dirt. I also need a new home for my Platydoras Armatulus (he is about 7 inches long). So I plan to get my 150 tall going again. I believe it is a petco tank. 48" wide 30" tall 24" deep. The focal point of the tank will be a large cave for the platydora armatulus. But heavily planted is a must. I recently aquired 2 of these 196 watt 12 volt power supplies.
I also have about 5 led dimmers.
My plan is to build a light with that looks good and grows plants well in a 30" tall tank with lots of dimming control options. I also recently picked up an arduino mega and esp8266. My plan is to make 2 x 24" 198 watt connected smart fish tank lights for this aquarium.
So here is my problem. I would very much like to use 10watt cobs instead of the cree or cree style stars that generally run at lower voltage and wattage. It will be much easier for me to mount 20 10 watt leds vs 60 3 watt leds. Can anyone here recommend a supplier for some grow led modules (10 watt around 12 volts). If you do have a recommendation please let me know if they will require lenses. My original potential work around for lenses was to use baffles. eg I would use aluminum angle to mount the led thus effectively narrowing the angle(would this work?)
In the end with the arduino I would like to have the display read out the temp of the tank the weather forcast for the day and even keep track of my water changes.
I even have plans to have clouds, rain days and lightning but these are future updates.
