I recently moved my betta into a 20 gallon tank so I could also add cory's. I don't think he likes it all that much. He seemed so much happier in the smaller 5 gallon I used to have him in. Is he just getting used to all the room he has? I have also ordered some floating plants so I'm hoping that will help him feel less exposed.

Or do I need to set the 5 gallon back up and put him back into a smaller set up? I actually would prefer to NOT go this route, but will if we think the 20 gallon is too big for him.

I've had a betta in a 55, 20, 5 and 3 gallon tanks. 20 gallon and up was the most entertaining way to keep them in my experience. They will go through an adjustment period where they get used to the flow rate and pattern of the tank, but I've always been entertained with how much they used the space after the first adjustment period. The smaller tanks were nice, but not as stimulating, less space and tankmates.

Yep. A few years back, I saw a betta in a 125 in a bar in Philly. He used every inch of the tank. Bettas CAN be kept in small tanks, but by no means is it better for them.

It’s been a few weeks now and Bob LOVES his new home and uses every inch of space. He hangs out in caves, swims through hidey-holes, explores caves, disguises himself and hangs out in the floating plant roots and the best of all is he gets along great with the Panda cories and Amano shrimp.

Way to go, Bob!

Here is Bob! This was in his previous studio apartment. I haven’t taken any good ones of him in his new abode.
