Hi my tank has been running for five years with no problems.i did a water test and found my ph 6.6. Ammonia 0 nitrite 0.25 nitrate 20 the nitrite has increased from 0 to 0.25 everything else is as normal.any ideas what has coused this.

The nitrite-oxidizing bacteria aren't keeping up with the bioload. It's difficult to say why without more information?

What kind of filtration are you running?
What size tank do you have?
What and how many fish do you have and what size are they?

More importantly, aside from the .25 nitrite which is pretty obvious (and Tarheel nailed that one), what is your concern?

Is your pH normally that low? What is your normal water change schedule and amount of water changed?
