Amonia burn?

I think my fish may have amonia burn, but i'm not sure. A couple of the fish have no syptoms at all, while the fish with it the worst has swelling gills with red. The fish will stay mostly at the top of the tank and gasp. Is this amonia burn? What do I do?
 
BTW the tank is fully cycled- has been for 4 months now
It is a 20 gallon with 5 molly fish
The sytoms started a day after a water change
The fish apper healthy apart from the 'burns'- normal appetite
 
Yes. But my decholrinater is complicated to use because it is meant for much larger tanks and ponds, so the way you does it gets confusing- and i'm being confusing at the moment too. If anything i put too much of it in, not too little.

Have you been testing your water? Has your ammonia been high? My understanding of ammonia burn is that it takes either a lengthy lower level exposure, or can occur in a short high level exposure. However, I defer to the experts here, I'm still somewhat of a newbie. But really, test your water and do the water changes necessary.

it could but it is impossible if your tank really is fully cycled for your fish to have been exposed to enough aminia to burn thier gills

the same affect can be caused by other chemical burns like chlorine or excessive dechlorinator chemicals, so i don't think amonia is your problem and please don't start dumping amo-lock into your tank
 
ok, so should i just do more water changes than normal? Is there anything else i can do?
 
I'd be a little suspicious of the dechlorinator. If its that complicated maybe it was easy to make a mistake?
