Ok, Just to simplify things, lets make a thread that lists illegal fish state by state. I will start:

Illinois Illegal fish

*Snakeheads (including, but not limited to, all fishes of the genera Channa and Parachanna, and others of the family Channidae)
*Fish or viable eggs of the Walking Catfish, Clariidae family
*Mollusks, veligers, or viable eggs of zebra mussels, genus Dreissena
*Crustaceans or viable eggs of mitten crabs, genus Eriocheir
*River Ruffe (Gymnocephalus cernuus)
* Silver Carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix)

Also keep in mind that endangered and threatened species from other countries are BANNED as well. I found a story from a couple years ago...guy brought in an Arowana and was arrested by U.S. Customs.

Pirahnas are illegal to Buy/Sell within the state.

I do believe that if you move into california with an existing pet pirahna, you're OK. Same rule applies to Ferrets as well...

LOL. It may have been more expedient for Texas to merely list the allowed species and provide that all unlisted species are illegal.

one kool thing about Ill is that frt(fly river turltes) are legal...it is really a shame about the channa species(snakeheads) just because some stupid people had to release them into the lakes ruined it for all of us...

STINGRAYS ARE ILLEGAL IN CALI!!!lol i will get a link that has all of the states they rays are legal/illegal in

also all asain arowana are ILLEGAL in the united states sadly since they are endangered and the arow farms didnt repopulate the wild stock like they were suppose to

I could be wrong, but I think African arowanas are now legal with no permit requirement as well.
