    Cloudy water!! Help!!

Sounds like a bacterial bloom....give it a few days and it should clear up. Just keep testing daily and do any water changes needed if levels get wacky

    adequate filtration for a 55 g?

it would be better to run them both as the water going thru the filter helps supply needed oxygen for the bacteria to grow.... You could always place the other filter on the end or even the front and use some sort of temporary cover to just keep the fish from trying to bail out ....doesnt have...

    Water testing question

Look at the last four numbers on the lot#'s on each bottle .... 0307 would mean March of 2007 is when it was packaged ..... It is my understanding that anythng less than 1 year old should be good... some of the tests are good for more than 1 year but I didnt take the time to find the list on...

    adequate filtration for a 55 g?

Running two of the Whisper 40's would probably do fine .... It would be best to go ahead and get it now if you can (or atleast acouple weeks before you get the new tank) and have them both running on your 20g to allow a good bacteria growth to build up in the new filter .... You may have to...

    free sample

Just tried it and not too impressed so far...of course I tried breaking it up some in smaller pieces to be easier for the fish to eat and it made a mess of the water with all the tiny specks floating around...... I may just leave it whole and drop it in for my cories from time to time.

    Amm/Nitrite=0, How up Nitrates?

You might could even try a half and half mixture (1 part tank water 1 part tap water) Sorry if I am throwing too many ideas at you...I am just trying to figure it out with you because I know how frustrating it can be when cycling

    Amm/Nitrite=0, How up Nitrates?

what is the reading compared to the color chart now? If a darker yellow then then you are in the 5 to 10 range x 10= 50 to 100ppm You might could just go ahead and do a large 75% or so water change and then test....Water changes will not hurt your cycle any but they might help get the nitrates...

    Amm/Nitrite=0, How up Nitrates?

What you need to do is get a test out of what you had in the bowl....fill tube upto line with the 9:1 mixture....dont put the drops in the bowl mixture....add drops to the water mixture in a tube just like getting a tank sample to test.

    Amm/Nitrite=0, How up Nitrates?

To be around 20ppm the color should be a shade of orange not brown

    Amm/Nitrite=0, How up Nitrates?

Yes you want them around 20 before adding fish.... but if you are getting a false reading they could be over the 160 that the chart max's out at

    Amm/Nitrite=0, How up Nitrates?

Be sure it is actually 7 and not some super high number giving you a false test reading. The method below is assuming you are using a liquid test kit...but could also work with strips I guess Try taking a test with like 1 part tank water and 9 parts tap water...just fill the tube up to the...
