    New 30g Hex Tank

I agree totally with AP. Uncured is a pain in the butt. 50% water changes daily for two weeks or so... blech, never doing it like that again. Personally, I now like the slower approach, which is a fair about of base/dead rock to which you add a smaller amount of cured live rock. Pros: It's...

What would you do to this tank?

I'll bow to APs experience with the amount of rock. However, I would still think hard about adding dead rock first, then very little live rock. As long as you keep the clown in there, you don't want to stress him the way a mini (or major) cycle would. That opinion and $4.50 will get you a...

What would you do to this tank?

actually, if you add that much live rock, you're going to have a major problem and recycle the tank. Instead, what you might do (if you want to head towards a reef tank) is add about 30-40 pounds of 'dead rock'...

    Another invert ID

Awesome. Thanks again AP It's pretty cool that I've got sponges multiplying in my tank.

Add about 45-60 pounds of live rock.

    Another invert ID

The body seems to be similar, I can't google a tunicate that has the prongs though. I've also read that they are basically impossible to keep in an aquarium and these are multiplying. I definitely need to know if these things need to go before they spread too much more.

    Another invert ID

OK, this is a non-motile (I think) invert. The general appearance is a small white sac attached to the underside of some liverock. There are two small grabbers/antenna/stingers projecting away from the body. There was one and it's gotten bigger. There is now one next it and another one on a...

    Clown fish disease?

never mind put him down no more external signs, but the fish could not swim properly. If it stopped swimming, it listed to one side. very very rapid breathing... SIgh... this is what happens when you don't follow the plan.

    Clown fish disease?

Help. One of my two new clowns has a problem. His lower, front fins are clamped to his body. Just an hour ago, I noticed that he had two white streamers. One appeared to be coming from his mouth and the other from his gill slit. It also appeared that there was one from around the eye. Each...

    Marine Foods

Hi guys, So, I've got two clowns (percula) now and growing variety of corals (including torch and trumpet). My intention is to add a triplet of green banded gobies and a few more various corals. I've got some frozen mysis for food. What else can/should I get? I've seen several...

    Crab ID help

OK, this crab has been hiding for too long and gotten too big. I also think he's eaten all my clove polyps. The body is white with speckles. It's larger than a hermit crab... about the size of nickel or a little larger. In this picture, his claw is almost direct center. Below right of the...
