    Apistogramma Cacatoides spawned, need advice

I'm gonna pick up some brine shrimp eggs and go that route. After that I'll have the flour beetles and larva to keep feeding them.

    Apistogramma Cacatoides spawned, need advice

So, I picked up a pair of Apistogramma Cacautoides last week. They are a proven pair.... Anyway, they have already spawned. What are my next steps? They are in a 10g bare bottom tank by themselves. There is a terra cotta pot in there for a breeding cave, and the eggs are on the inside top of...

    CL Used Aquarium Pricing Guide

That's pretty spot on. I thought it was going to be a useless rant. Whenever I'm selling stuff on CL, that's pretty much what I set as my "minimum" price. I'll take those numbers, add ~20% for the bartering factor, and then list it. For example, I've got a 75g on CL right now, comes with a diy...

    Anubias Jenny

If you can get a scientific name for it from the australians, it would really REALLY help you out.

    Anubias Jenny

My point is, I think it might be coffeefolia not just look like it, which IS available in the states. I think Anubias Jenny is just some made up common name those Australian sites are using. Again, the largest reference to it on the interwebs is you posting looking for it.

    Anubias Jenny

Yeah, I'm not sure this is a separate species from what is currently available in the US. I searched it, and for the most part I only came up with other sites you posted on looking for it. I found one or two Australian sites referencing it, but it really kind of looks like Coffeefolia.

    interesting lighting problem.

    So I'm guessing you aren't thinking you'll inject co2?

    interesting lighting problem.

Actually, I change my mind. Go with some Ocean Clear canisters. Gravity fed? From the bottom or like a overflow? Seen the thred on the 5g bucket canisters? I know the guy had some issues in the beginning keeping them sealed, but I think he solved it. Might want to check it out.

    interesting lighting problem.

Solar tubes won't give you the light you need to grow the plants you described in a 36" deep tank. It'd be a low light anubias and java fern tank at best. 36" of water is a lot of water for light to penetrate through.

    interesting lighting problem.

Fishneedit has 150w MH pendants for $140 each, so you're talking $560. Reasonable is definitely the operative word. $560 may seem like a lot for lights, but it's almost a 600g tank...it's gonna be pricey. I take back my previous comment, this is an interesting question. I started thinking...

    interesting lighting problem.

I've never heard of that. That's pretty strange because a lot, if not most, reefers use acrylic and MHs. It's also strange that reefers use acrylic since they have sand in the tank. Talk about mortal enemies.

    interesting lighting problem.

Playing it a little fast and loose with the word "interesting" in the title, don't you think? :grinno::grinno::grinno: Anyway, at that depth, like others have said, MH lights would be the only way to go. You'd probably want 4x150w of MH spread out across the tank. You average MH only provides...

50g Metaframe on ebay, Pennsylvania Pickup

If I lived in PA I'd be tempted by the 50 for $80, but that might be because I hardly see these available in my area. I picked up a 10g a couple of weeks ago for $20...and I was happy to pay that. However, the dude with the 50 would probably accept $60, maybe even $50.

50g Metaframe on ebay, Pennsylvania Pickup

Just saw this on ebay. Probably needs a little work, but what Metaframe doesn't? http://cgi.ebay.com/Stainless-50-Gallon-Metaframe-Style-Vintage-Aquarium_W0QQitemZ170419965844QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item27add24f94#ht_500wt_1182 and a 5g in Michigan...

"Restoring" a stainless steel framed aquarium

Do you, or has anyone, considered sealing slate to glass with whatever works regardless of toxicity, and then coming back a resealing over it with silicone? Then, there wouldn't be any structural requirements on the silicone, just more or less waterproofing. I've got a 10g slate bottom to...

    Jeffrey's "Big Boy"---120g Planted

Zip ties, electric tape, cable hangers. That's the worst part, trying to figure how to organize all those wires. I have a piece of wood attached to the back of the stand that I used to support the plumbing, I ran the wires behind and over that, so that they are forced to stay tucked away. It'd...

    Jeffrey's "Big Boy"---120g Planted

The tank is finally in a semi finished position. I've got all the electronics hooked up and the programs setup on the controller. Lights are installed, canopy is in good shape, co2 is pumping....and I even got some plants in there. This is my no means "scaped." I just put it some plants I had...

    Jeffrey's "Big Boy"---120g Planted

Well, I guess the problem with the DW was that took it too far off. You want it at the 1.6:1 ratio, and I think the focal point was a little closer to 2:1. That's just the hardscape, plants are still to come, so no worries there.
