    Looking for Snails

There should be a couple PetSmarts within the vicinity.. they always have snails. Would it be possible for your parents to drive you?

Can you find opaline gouramis regularly at Petco?

Like previously stated, PetSmart sells both. I believe the opalines go for about $3 and the dwarves go for $3-4 each. I haven't seen either at PetCo.

    Single white dot on nose

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I went ahead and removed my filter media and began Melafix treatment for the entire tank. I'll update with any progress.

    Single white dot on nose

It does not look "hairy" or feathery at all. It looks like a solid white bump. I'm somewhat frightened to treat the entire tank, as it is only 3 gallons and it would involve me taking apart the filter media to remove the carbon..

This is the best picture I could get.

    Single white dot on nose

I have a Black Sail Cory, and I have recently noticed that he has a single white dot on the very tip of his nose. I don't think it was there before, though I first noticed it a couple weeks ago (and it has not changed at all). No other fish in the tank show any symptoms of fungus or ich...

    Petco Tank SALE!!!

^Please feel free to edit your posts, rather than double posting. I hope you know he will probably get fired when the store discovers the variance. This easily counts as stealing. Do the tanks come with hoods?

I can't get my danged vacuum to work.

It's really not a difficult concept, assuming your tank is off of the ground. Put the wide part in your tank and the other end in a bucket on the floor. Get the wide part to be completely filled with water, then do the up and down motion to get the water to enter the thin tube some. Once the...

    Petco

I didn't even know that there were new and old systems. The system in my store is the same that I have seen in every other (including one in a store that just opened last year). Basically, you take one end of the hose to the gravel vaccuum and hook it up to a white attachment that protrudes (in...

    Petco

tmtpowers and sophiecat22, please let your managers know that PetSmart has recently made an adjustment to policies and procedures, and gravel vaccuuming is no longer part of them. I can definitely see why, as I vividly recall gravel vaccuuming with those crazy devices and watching much of the...

    Petco

They do not use a rag; they use an algae sponge. I can vouch for this as I have worked for the company in more than one store, and have the policies and procedures ingrained in my head (and they're generally very strict about them). Yes, each store is required to gravel stir a set number of...

    do adfs eat fish?

I have personally seen an ADF eat a fry, so, yes, they will, given the opportunity.

To those with 2.5 gallon tanks...

I have two that I have had for over a year in a spacious 10 gallon alone, and they are both about an inch long each. Whether this variety was bred ethically is beyond me, but I can assure you that I feed a nutritionally complete diet to all of my fish, and my platies have had plenty of room to...

To those with 2.5 gallon tanks...

This is my 2.5 minibow. :) Currently houses a female betta and coral dwarf platy. If you stick with the pellets, I recommend Hikari. They can be found almost anywhere (even Wal-Mart) and are much more quality than say, TopFin. The best flake brand you can get locally probably would be Omega...

    Big school o' neons?

If anyone is ever in Seoul, Korea, they have a large display of cardinals in the aquarium at COEX mall. Yamato numaebi does not mean Japanese shrimp. It means something more along the lines of "shrimp of the yamato river."

    Petsmart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!

First of all, you should have done research before going out and buying 6 goldfish. An identification tag is located on each aquarium in PetSmart, each noting minimum aquarium size and maximum length of the fish (although they are sometimes incorrect). Just skimming one of these would have told...

    Where to find Beckford's Pencilfish?

Yes, hence why I pointed out that my PetSmart carries this specific type of fish. PetSmarts generally carry identical stock, and I was simply suggesting that he locate a local store (if possible) and give them a call. As far as I know, there is still a PetSmart located just southwest of Charleston.

    Fry + Panda Cory = ?

So, my little girl (coral dwarf platy) is pregnant, and I can see the fry inside of her. I read that this means she has 3 or 4 days to go. Now, she is in a 2.5 gallon aquarium, heavily planted, with a panda cory. Will the panda cory harm the fry, if he can get ahold of them? Thanks in advance.
