Thanks Bob, I will get a new video up real soon. Maybe even tonight if I get the time.

    GreggZ's Planted Rainbow Tank

First, thanks for the nice compliment Japappy789. Now, as noted above, I changed out my pea gravel substrate for Black Diamond Blasting Sand I’ll describe how I did it, but it is not necessarily a recommendation. Don’t get me wrong, everything went smoothly, but it’s probably not the text book...

    GreggZ's Planted Rainbow Tank

Well, I decided to change the whole tank over to Black Diamond. It's just so much easier to plant in. You know, it's all personal opinion, but so far I am really liking the look. When I have some more time, I will write up how I changed the substrate. Always nerve wracking but it all in all it...

The 150: a work in progress.

The Black Diamond looks nice. As far as stock goes, that's a tough one. We all have different favorites. Keep in mind that fish tend to stay in certain "layers" of the tank. For instance, in my tank the Rainbows always stay in the top 2/3. My Roseline sharks stay in the bottom 1/2. My Clown...

The 150: a work in progress.

Not to hijack the thread, but how is it working out for you? You glad you used it? Plants doing well? You mentioned vacuuming, how do you vacuum it? Does it get sucked up into the vac? I'm deciding on using this now, so any more information would be appreciated.

The 150: a work in progress.

I have limited experience with it, as I just changed over a small section of my tank from pea gravel to Black Diamond. It seems heavier than plain sand, settled right away, and I had no cloudiness. I can tell you this, compared to gravel, it's a pleasure to plant in, and the plant colors really...

The 150: a work in progress.

I am experimenting right now with Black Diamond Blasting Sand. so far, I have to say, I really like it. I am thinking of doing my 120 gallon in it. You can do a search and read all about it. It's available at any Tractor Supply Co. It's $8.49 for a 50lb bag. 300 lbs will cost you about $50.00...

    GreggZ's Planted Rainbow Tank

Mark thanks for the reply...........and taking a few minutes off from your ranting! ;);) I'm leaning toward doing the whole thing in the black sand, but have to kind of soak it in for awhile.

    GreggZ's Planted Rainbow Tank

That is too funny. It really is a small world. I just posted that comment an hour or so ago. Thanks for the comment on the stand build. As I look back at it, it was a miracle it came out the way it did. There were many, many opportunities for disaster. I was actually trying to find your build...

    GreggZ's Planted Rainbow Tank

This post is a little different tonight. I am looking for advice, comments, and opinions. I’m an old school guy, and have used nothing but Home Depot pea gravel for substrate for forever. Since I’ve gone to pressurized CO2, and taken plants more seriously, I’ve been considering going to a more...

    Koi angelfish 670-gallon planted tank

The refugium looks bigger and nicer than most planted tanks! How many shrimp can you raise in there?

    Old timers check in.

Bob I actually just got a few new Bows. New ones I have never kept. Letting them color up and fill out a little before pics.

    Cheap lighting for 150 tall?

I would just do your research. I remember reading some threads about these and lots of people complained that most didn't last 6 months to a year. It just might be you get what you pay for. That being said, I have no personal experience with these.

The 150: a work in progress.

Looks like a great start. I look forward to seeing updates. My tank is 26" high, which is pretty tall. I hope you have long arms.

Please keep posting videos. I can't see this tank from enough angles. Spectacular as usual!

Thumbs up to you Sir.:):):) I do agree, and I will try to contribute more myself. I even liked your last post! How's that for a start.

    Old timers check in.

I guess I’m old but not an old timer. I’ve posted on this board over the years, started a few threads, but wouldn’t call myself a regular. All in all, I have spent much more time here reading than posting. I believe those who are active here provide a great service, and I hope there are those...

    GreggZ's Planted Rainbow Tank

Quick update today on my addition of CO2 into my Rainbow tank. Here's a pic from 9/28, the day I started CO2 injection and started getting more serious about plants, and a picture from tonight. In all fairness, in the "before" picture, I had removed many of my low tech plants. But still, so far...

    GreggZ's Planted Rainbow Tank

Now that I can't help you with. I just registered and purchased from them last week. If you can't get it done this weekend, I would give them a call Monday. Like I said, they are legit, and it shipped the next day.
