For the space it's in, a 5 foot tank at 18" deep worked out perfect. I felt 6' would have been too much, and 24" deep would have stuck out into the room too much. Plus, I like the extra height. The tank is a Marineland Tank, and it's about the only 5 footer that I could find.

No, it is a 60" x 18" x 26". It's considered an extra high tank.

I agree with the post above. You really want at least a 48" tank for Boesemani's. They do get pretty big (4" to 5") and fill out when they mature.They are also pretty active and cruise the tank all day. Praecox are more suited for a smaller tank. However, they are easily the least hardy species...

When it comes to Boesemani's, there's a wide variety of colors depending on the strain. Some are more yellow/silver, some are more orange/blue. From my experience, a washed out yellow/silver one won't change into a beautiful orange/blue one. If you don't see good colors even at a small size...

Roseline's are very peaceful fish, and go great in a community tank. I've never seen one bother any other fish. They do get to about 6" at full maturity. They tend to stay in the lower third of the tank, so you might pick other fish that stay more to the middle and top of the tank. I have them...

Just a quick note. My tank in the above vid is only males. They flash/challenge each other daily, without any females in the tank. And I've not noticed any difference in color from when I had both males and females. Of course, only my personal experience in my tank.
