Where to buy Pressur. CO2 components?

I agree with Len fully on this one. Although I have no pressurized experience to speak from, I have been using DIY CO2 for almost a year now. I never did get a steady amount of CO2 in a high enough amount, even using 2 alternating bottles. Anyways, I saw the effects of pH swings when I had it...

    check this out

It puts my fish stores to shame!!! It looks like it has more stock room and aquarium space than the Petsmart here, but it's got much better looking tanks, plants, and fish! I'm not even gonna compare it to my sorry LFS! I won't support him any more than necessary! I hope the service and prices...

Need Urgent Help with Eheim Ecco!

If the seals and valves are intact, it's definately a defect or damage of some kind. And YES, I do own an ECCO 2233 model. Never had any type of leak issues. I don't keep mine in a bucket either.

Where to buy Pressur. CO2 components?

I ended up buying the Milwaukee brand "all-in-one" regulator, with needle valve and solenoid from Aquatic Store. I dissagree with the statement that a solenoid will stop pH swings in the aquarium by shutting off the CO2 at night. Since my water goes from 7.7 or 7.8 down to about 6.8 or 6.7 when...

Where to buy Pressur. CO2 components?

My wife gave the OK for the purchase of a pressurized system today! I have been looking around and haven't found a decent deal online. I know that many of you have ordered all of the components separately and that it's generally cheaper this way. Can some of you give me the locations/websites to...

New 55 gal planted setup questions:

Haha.....just to clarify, I went from 70 WATTS to 40 WATTS! I suppose I need to start working on getting a pressurized CO2 system going then for my 55 also:( Wife is gonna freak about additional costs! IS this really THAT much light after I tea-color it with plenty of peat (pre-treated, and in...

Spirulina Flakes...Who's got the best flake?

Good points Valerie, I do get a little bit of powder at the bottom, but I don't think I've had as much as you have in yours. It is probably the handling of them getting to whatever location you buy if from. Each store probably has different results with flake breakage (although minor differences...

New 55 gal planted setup questions:

I have recently ordered an AHS 4x55w PCF setup, and have been getting the new tank (55 gallons) set up, and light fixture built. I ordered 5 bags of Flourite and added that. Had plenty of mulm and a handful of peat (pre-boiled) added under the Flourite. I had ZERO CLOUDING when filling the tank...

    some planted tank issues

I'm glad things are getting sorted out. Don't stop your salt treatment yet, though! Go one more week. Keep things stable. Do a 50% water change this weekend, and add one more TBSP of salt after the water change. Next weekend, if things are still clear, just do another 50% water change (clean...

Spirulina Flakes...Who's got the best flake?

I have been recently comparing different veggie flakes, and have come to stay with the first ones I bought. Nutrafin Spirulina Algae Flakes. I have compared them to several other flake brands, and these are the largest I've seen. I use them in my larger cichlid tank, and they rarely lose any...

    some planted tank issues

The first thing that should be done is get information on your situation, then take action, then stick with that treatment for the full duration suggested. When you medicate, see a fish get sick or die, then remove medicine, then add a bunch of salt, then massive water change........of coarse...

    Dark tips on Java Fern?

Is it normal to have very dark green tips on growing leaves of Java fern? It is so noticeable that it appears that the tips have been painted dark green and has a very distinct line where it turns the normal green color for the remaining 90% or so of the leaf. I'm just wondering if this is where...

Car headlights as planted tank lights

Yes, what does "twelve volts killed it" mean? You would definately need a AC to DC converter, which is easy to get and fairly cheap, as is the power supply. The spectrum, which I guessed at, is definately not and exact estimate. I know we can't determine Kelvin values with our eyes, but...

Car headlights as planted tank lights

I had a strange idea as I was driving to work a few days ago, and had to squint when a certain car passed me going the other direction. The car had the new headlights that appear more bluish-white than yellow-white. Man those new lights are bright! It seems to me that they would make ideal...

    Plants and Discus

I have a couple of opinions on your proposed setup: 1) I would not try keeping Discus in a 40 gallon tank. I'd do no less than a 75 gallon. The water is more stable, they have more room to feel secure, and you can have a few more (roughly 1 per 10 gallons is pretty standard). They also would...

Large Pacu with gravel stuck in nose.

Wow.....interesting situation! I'm no expert, but I guess I'd give it a day to see if he can work it out himself. If it's still there tomorrow, I'd consult a vet if possible. If you CAN'T get a vet's suggestion, then use a huge net and pull the fish out of the water, then remove it with...

    Which filter to get?

For quality products that give excellent mechanical and biological filtration, as well as offer unsurpassed flexibility in optional uses------go with 1 Eheim 2026 Plus Kit (includes media), and one AC500 hang on filter. Buy one extra filter pad for the AC500 and you will never have to buy any...

Neon Tetra losing red color from tail???

Anyone have any input? I can't believe that it's an age issue (like getting old and going to die), since some of mine are fairly young (about 1 year old).

    Internal Filter as CO2 diffuser?

I have used the Duetto DJ100 for this purpose, and was quickly disappointed with the results. Even if I could stand the immense amounts of bubbles being thrown around the aquarium, I cannot deal with an airlocked filter! It comes with an adjustable flow switch (which is annoyingly...

Neon Tetra losing red color from tail???

One of my Neon Tetras has lost a bit of the red color near his tail. I have heard that NTD is a whitish area in the blue section below the dorsal, but the fish looks fine there. It is only getting pale (whitish) in the red area. No physical damage is evident, and no stress lately to speak of...
