Dwarf Rainbow with foot and mouth disease???

Thanks a lot my friends! Googling for fish lumps I had guessed Lymphocystis (Cauliflower Disease), but apparently can be much worse :( Anyway after your suggestions I went shopping, I visited 3 lfs and I reached the conclusion that the UK is not the right place to cure fish diseases... All I...

Dwarf Rainbow with foot and mouth disease???

I've just got a good camera :) Actually I'm just starting experimenting with the right settings to get decent pictures of quite active fish... Anyway the one I'm going to post now are not great because I had to use the flash in order to be able to use a macro (but slow) lens. Here you have...

Dwarf Rainbow with foot and mouth disease???

Hi Cerianthus, I'll try to take and post some pictures later today, I've just checked ammonia and nitrites so far today (all 0), but PH has been constantly at 7.9 in the last 7 months (last check on Monday), however I'll check later. Today I performed my regular weekly 25% water change. The...

Dwarf Rainbow with foot and mouth disease???

Just a quick update. The little guy developed a very small lump on the one side, the mouth is virtually unchanged and he looks quite healthy (coloured and active as usual), do you think I need to take any action?

    Sick? Gourami

Can't comment on your wallet, but being able to keep a kissing gourami alive for 10 years you must be ready for Discus ;)

    Sick? Gourami

A quick search returned with 4 to 5 years for some type of gouramis.... Apparently tetras, oscar and angelfish can live up to 10 years. just 4 years according to this one: http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/beginnerinfo/a/lifespan.htm (is yours a moonlight gourami? How big he is?) Now you need...

Dwarf Rainbow with foot and mouth disease???

Well the main reason why I wanted to perform another WC is because the nitrates are ~20... Ammonia and nitrites are 0 and PH is my usual 7.9 (api freswater master test).

Internal filter going at 1/3 of the speed

Hi Bob, that filter can use a venturi system, but in this case the filter top needs to be 1 cm above water level. I can imagine the figure used is the one without media, but even though the water was flowing at half of the speed. To be honest I didn't check the new Fluval I've got in exchange...

Internal filter going at 1/3 of the speed

I recently had some minor issue in my tank (see http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=225437) and almost by chance I decided to check the water flow from my filter (Fluval U2, I strongly recommend this filter!). The flow rate from the specification is 400 Lt/h, with some simple...

    Sick? Gourami

10 years!!! Wow! You must be doing a great job with your tank, congratulations! I have no idea about what could that be... but could it be just old age? A 10 years old gourami must be approaching the max life expectancy.

Dwarf Rainbow with foot and mouth disease???

Hi Cerianthus, thanks for the suggestions! I'm holding off and I'm just monitoring at the moment. However I have a major breakthrough: yesterday morning going through my "fish tank logbook" (sure I have one, I note down all going in and out from the tank, the routine water tests and everything...

Dwarf Rainbow with foot and mouth disease???

Yes I can get Malachite and Methylene, I just can't get antibiotics. Today I performed a 25% water change and added 2 TBS of Aqualibrium (in the tank there should be already ~1 TBS each 25 Lt., so I should be 4 TBS now for the 80 litres of net water in tank, almost 1gr. of salt per Lt.), and...

Dwarf Rainbow with foot and mouth disease???

Yep, still eating, I'm wondering for how long more, see how bent is the top lip? I can't get antibiotics in UK, but I've successfully used Interpet "Anti Internal Bacteria" in the past to cure my dwarf gourami apparently affected by DGD or some other bacterial infection... I'm tempted to give...

Dwarf gourami disease identification - help!

About fertilizers I was referring to the aquasoil you added before all this started. Maybe the poison that is killing your fish is under your gravel. The air pump is also known as air stone, it is a a pump used to increase the agitation, and so the aeration of the water in the tank. A lot of...

Dwarf Rainbow with foot and mouth disease???

Hi JasonO, Thanks a lot again, all very interesting theories! I would rule out the first one because I had the rainbow for almost 4 months now and the tank has been fine very stable in the last 6 months. The tank is not very big (95 lt. 80 cm long) but the dwarf rainbow are quite small for it...
