Is this the right stump remover?

I picked this up as I am looking to get to the less expensive way to keep my nutrients up for my tank. I see people talking about "stump remover" but I wanted to verify this was the right stuff before I try dosing a tank with it. It's Green Light brand stump remover, it mentions potassium...

    Peacock Gudgeons Spawned!

I recently acquired some fish which I have liked for a while but been unable to find in Texas. That being the Peacock Gudgeon. I had them less then 2 weeks when two of the males took up roost in some pieces of PVC pipe I had supplied and prompty encouraged some females to spawn. In one...

    Big FAT Ottos... (incl pics)

I will keep up hope that it's not that. But it's not something i've discounted as impossible either. I'm just hoping for the best. They have been in this tank about 2 months now and looking like this for about the last month of so.

    Big FAT Ottos... (incl pics)

I have 4 ottos as part of my algae control crew in my 100 gallon tank. They have fed well since it's heavily planted tank and in getting the balance of various plant additives right caused a few small algae blooms. Three of the four have gotten downright FAT. One has maintained it's...

    Easiest fish to breed???

If you want to include a bubble nester in your study I would recommend the Paradise fish. I have had them literally nest and spawn when I just put three in a tank to help keep it cycled while I was waiting for some fish to come in. The requirements are : a) still surface water or...

    Lowering my PH

What type of filtration are you using? Often adding peat to your filtration will help lower it some. But with it over 8 you're probably looking at the need to pre-treat the water before putting it in to hope to bring that down to the 7 range if that's what you're aiming for. Probably a...

    stocking a 100gal community

I have a 100 gallon but I have it heavily planted with Cardinal tetras, one rubber lip pleco , and some algae control crew (i.e. snails and soon Amanno shrimp). Then again, it's full on c02 injected and planted and all that so i'm obviously the wierdo here :)

Sounds like some dates i've been on... Oh wait.. back on topic... I keep blue gourami and paradise fish (a cousin in the same family) and have had sucess with various gender combinations. Usually when breeding I will isolate a egg gravid female and male in one tank with no surface...

Do you use PVC pipe in your aquarium?

I use PVC pipe segments (about 4 inches long) in my peacock gudgeon tank scattered around. The males take up roost in them and guard eggs in them when they spawn. I have tinkered with some ideas about cave systems under the gravel of a tank using PVC, but for now have limited my experiments...

gudgeon got dark in color!! worried

I have a colony of peacock gudgeons currently in a species tank. I have seen pics of the purple striped ones, maybe someday i'll find some in my neck of the woods. I think a couple of my males have taken up roost in some pipe segments i laid in there so hopefully i'll have a spawn soon.

    severum question

There is a pleco in the tank. I suppose I will find an alternate home for him and give them another chance, I'd love to see them actually get some to maturation. It's a 55 gallon long tank, I might also just put a divider in.

This is in my 100 gallon which currently just has a small group (17) or Cardinal tetras, one rubber lip pleco (about 2 inches long), 2 ramshorn snails, and some Malaysian Trumpet Snails. I hope to have this as my smaller fish peaceful type of tank. Not to mention lower ph and more amazon like...

Female Molly - been gravid too long

Most of my mollies i've had go for about a month. You can verify that salt amount on the side of any actual aquarium salt package. Don't add normal table salt that has iodine in it :) I had a friend do that once, not good.

    severum question

Slightly off topic, but since I have some severum people around I'll ask. I have a breeding pair it seems. they like to scare everybody off and make a patch of gold colored eggs on a rock in the tank. Can this rock be removed to a hatching and grow out tank? The parents them seem to...
