I don't get why you would take out all that water. You could mix the salt into a cup of (hot) water and put that in, or drop the salt into your HOB filter.

I think that's 100 gallons. From what I've heard, not big enough for a full grown oscar. Or goldfish either, actually. I would paint it black.

This sounds like a fungal growth. I've seen something similar on leftover food. No ill effects in my tank, though leftovers should be removed as a rule.

The most common small species like Red Cherries and Crystal Reds are harmless. Check the species before you buy.

One of my favourite fish. I wonder if these look that dark in real life.

I often dream about tanks rupturing, and having to rescue the fish from the floor. Actually at my LFS this week, a bag sitting on the floor fell over, and there all these poor goldfish flopng around on the floor; it was like a flashback (except I don't have goldies).

I think snails will be fine with sand.
