    Check this out! WOW!

And you could possibly get PBS or Animal Plant or Discovery Channel to foot the bill. Deeeeeeeep pockets on the big-wig T.V. corporations. ;)

    "Sleepy" Black Moor Goldfish

:p You're not supposed to be responsible in that situation; you just run to the nearest Petsmart and pick up another. Or if you're Arnold Schwarzenager you just have it cloned.

    Co2 injection and surface aggitation.

With a heavily planted tank I think running a bubble strip just as the CO2 turns off would be beneficial, but turn it off about two hours before the CO2 starts again and an hour before the lights turn on. Maybe try placing your powerhead lower in the tank to lessen surface movement?

    Aquarium safe rocks?

I can't imagine that'll hurt anything. You might get it to decompose but then you're just feeding the plants. And maybe an alge eater will like it?

Is it better to use a Co2 reactor or diffuser?

The is reactor where the CO2 is produced by a biological compound or released from a carbon block, and the diffuser is what disolves the CO2 into your water.... right? So I think it'd be good to have both.

    switching between tanks

If you switch over some of your decorations, a few rocks, the substrate, or at least a good portion of it, and keep the biofilter in your eheim alive you should have a large enough population of bacteria to deal with your bioload immediatly or within 24 hours.

How much time do you spend on this hobby?

I spend more time with my birds than fish. I get up in the morning, get all three of my devious trio, and we go have breakfast (they steal cereal out of my bowl). Then we hangout on the computer for a while until around 11am when the tank lights turn. I put the birds back so they can eat...

    Aquarium safe rocks?

My corys flip upside-down and seem to be eating something on it, but the rocks have been in there for two weeks and everyone is alive.

    Aquarium safe rocks?

Almost any igneous rock will be safe for your aquarium as they tend to be composed of very stable elements. I use granite in my tank and it looks great. There's mica speckled throughout the rocks so it looks like I have gold dust or something in my tank. :)

how long are your lights on

For now, 10 hours a day. But when I get my PC/moonlight hood and CO2 system I'm going to switch to 12 daylight / 12 moonlight.

    slate debate please?

Buying from a quarry is the best deal you'll get. I use granite in my tank and I got 30 pounds for $3.20. And generally having it shipped to you costs a lot more than the rock. The local landscape suply store (quarry) charges $90 an hour to have things delivered.

    Danio thinks it's a salmon

Plastic grid could solve your problem. $.26 for a 8 1/2" x 11" sheet at your local Walmart. Check the craft aisle.

Anyone use a powerhead to inject DIY CO2

Don't put the CO2 line into the intake. But if the line is left near by the CO2 should be pulled through the power head and pushed into the tank. Keep the powerhead away from the water surface to reduce CO2 loss from surface movement and undissolved bubbles reaching the surface.

    Which should I get?

I'll look around for large tanks of CO2. What size should I be looking for to last... 3 months? and how much should I expect to spend. $70-$100 is going to be my limit since I still have to buy my light. If I can't find a big enough tank for the price I want I'm going to go this route...

    Glo-fish

Barbie Danios :) They look pretty cool actually, but I doubt I'd ever own any.

    Gold Gourami

Females tend to be a silvery grey. They're very pretty, but hard to find since they don't sell as well as the males do. Check out all the fish and pet stores near you to see if they have any. If not, ask when they get fish shipments in and go check back the evening of whatever day they tell you...
