    hatching a clutch

If the clutches got too wet, the eggs could have been damaged. They do need to stay out of the water, until they hatch.

    RCS vs. Amano

BTW, if you're looking at shrimp as a solution to algae growth, it wont work. If you're considering to get Amano shrimp to eat hair algae, they may eat some. The only crusteaceans that I've seen really consume large amounts of hair algae are crayfish and Macrobrachium shrimp. There are snails...

    Crap! Jumper!

Shrimp have a similar fight or flight reflex as crayfish. They quickly flick their tail which rapidly propels them through the water (backwards). Often, when they do this action in a net, it can cause them to be thrown from the net. Because of the nature of their carapace, they take little...

    ALL HAIL CADIE

I'm not sure. If CADIE does take over the world, it may make Tiger Supreme Emperor. Another good one by Google :)

I should say, that members of Peta are going jump out, waring spotted owl hats, snow leopard coats, while eating veal, to shout, fooled you!

    stock my addiction!!!

Here is a sites with lists of shrimp, http://www.petshrimp.com/shrimpspecies.html This is one of my favorite invertebrate reference databases; http://www.wirbellose.de/start.html Don't be daunted by the German language. It's easy to get to the information you'll want. The point is to use...

    stock my addiction!!!

If you do get a Plecostomous, I don't know of any that can be kept in a 10g. The smallest tend to get around five inches, which is rather large for a 10g. If I had a 20g, my next setup would be, Macrobrachium eriocheirum (fuzzy claw shrimp), some of the more exotic nerites, Neocaridina sp...

    moderator abuse

I know it's late in the thread, and most topics now seem to be jovial, and enjoyable. However, I think that the atmosphere here is very conjenial, and appriciate the efforts of the moderators to keep it that way. I'm a member of at least 10-15 forums (mostly shrimp related), and the rules vary...

what to do for april fools this year...

Good office pranks I've see/done; If you use cubicles; 1a. get PS2/USB extenders and switch mice between two computers. So the cable from one goes under from computer A, under the wall and up to the desk of computer B, and repeat. If you're tricky, you can use a repeater/mouse switch so you...

    RCS Help

The 'saddle' are the eggs forming in the shrimp. They are not yet fertilized at that point. The female shrimp must molt, then mate. After mating, and before her carapace hardens, the eggs are attached to the underside of her tail. Unfortunately, seeing a shrimp that is carrying eggs does not...

    Amano Jumpers

Sure, ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, phosphates, metals, (copper in particular). Again, make sure that you've plugged the hole. The point is having an aquatic Alcatraz, albeit, a nice one. ;)

Good inverts for a community tank?

With the fish you're thinking of, any crustacean would be at serious risk. You could try it, but remember, crayfish molt. At such times, anything can take a chunk out of them. You could try some, but I would not spend much money on an 'exotic' dwarf crayfish, if it's just going to be dinner.

    Amano Jumpers

First off, close the opening. It could be from some water problem. Do you have more shrimp? If so, are they constantly swimming, without resting? If so, you need to do emidiate actions to fix your tank water. However, Amano shrimp are crawlers. They do swim, but they also walk and climb...

To 'signature advertize' or not to...

When I was last active here at the wonderful world of AC (about ~6 months ago), I saw, after posting some 'For Sale' threads, that many put links to their 'for sale' links in their signatures. So, I did the same. Now that I'm active here again, I recreated my "For Sale" thread using the new...

Good inverts for a community tank?

Vampire crabs (Geosesarma sp.) would not do well in an established (or semi established) community tank. They really need a vivarium (mostly land, small pool of water), like Mellowvision said. If you ever do decide to get marine crabs (fiddler or red claw crab), check out the paludariums...

some of my snails and shrimp

Excellent pics Bluerat! Your avatar also gave me a chuckle. Reminded me of a song, 'The cow in the field goes moo, the cow in the field goes moo. Then the farmer shoots him in the head. And that's how we get hamburger.
