I'm just curious, because I keep reading different things about people's experiences with glosso. Some say they can get it to grow in just about any condition as long as CO2 is provided and it has a fine substrate to grow in, while others say they can't get it to grow in anything but high light...

i'll try the partial blackout along with the excel after I remove as much of it as i can. should I leave the CO2 going on its regular schedule?

i've been meaning to get one of those test kits but just haven't gotten around to it. i was under the impression, though, that bba was more related to co2 and nitrates. i don't know where excess phosphates would come from (i don't overfeed...i actually probably underfeed b/c i'm rather absent...

what i want to figure out is where the algae is coming from (i.e. what conditions do I have that are conducive to algae growth). i don't think I have a nutrient overabundance and I'm certainly not in the high-light (or even medium-light) range. the plants in the tank are all slow growing, so...

are you talking about the little plastic washer thing that goes between the outlet of the tank and the inlet of the regulator? I have a sneaking suspicion that this is where I'm losing air, although how I'm going about fixing it I'm not sure. Going to get a new tank tomorrow, guess it'll have...

So it's been about 2 (maybe 3) weeks since my CO2 system got up and running and I just looked over and saw that the tank is empty. Was fine yesterday (no pressure decrease on either of the gauges), and it was working probably about 2 hours ago...but now it's apparently empty. It's a 2.5lb tank...

what should I be dosing then? and in how much? I know you mentioned something about iron. Right now all I have is flourish but I could get other stuff obviously. again, i just don't want to be overdosing ferts in the tank

Well, I have seen growth with the stuff before. When I first started a planted tank I had 40 WPG over this same tank and I was seeing a decent amount of growth with this same plant. But then it got covered with BBA, which is an issue I'm trying to avoid by keeping in the lower-light range
