    Clownfish breeding (maybe)

I suggest reading up on breeding. Really, the other tank would be best for the fry, as you will need to pull the eggs the day before they hatch, and follow procedure on clown fry. Eyes appear on eggs the day before they hatch, and really important to do this, as well as have living rotifers the...

    Question about adding fish

No problem, but keep in mind the inch per gallon rule does not apply to SW, and certain animals need alot more swimming room. In a 30g I would typically keep about 5 fairly small fish, no bigger than the clowns. I would also advise pulling most damsels since they get mean, w/ the exception of a...

    Question about adding fish

I would not recommend more than one pair of clowns, they will almost certainly fight.

CL ad - was asking for $1450, is this a good deal?

WOW is my first thought as well!LOL Nice collection of angels, but yeah, they need alot more tank, and keep in mind angels will make for fish only, not reef safe. Also agree most of that gear is not worth much, or even desireable for a SW/reef.

    Do I have enough flow??

Depends on what you plan to keep. Most mixed reefs seem to fair well in the 30-40x turnover range. Heavy stocked sps should be that or higher, 50-60x at least would be my rec, and some go as high as 100x turnover or even higher. Another thing to consider is random flow pattern if you can, my sps...

    Where to place my corals?

I find frogspawn to have brighter colors in lower light areas towards bottom.

Is anything in a Saltwater tank dangerous?

Is that tank pic Melevs? For the most part most stuff is pretty safe, but certain paly's, zoa's could harm you, especially if you have cuts as previously stated. Some fish spines can be probs as well. I've heard of weird stuff, people trying to steam/use boiling water for pests, breathe steam...

    Protein Skimmer Question

Sometimes stuff gets clogged or something, and sometimes just turning skimmer on/off clears it, and gets flowing again. Also, some pumps start back up in reverse, so on/off can clear that too, or hand placed in front of pump can bounce it back correct direction. You may need to clean/maintain...

    Crushed Coral or Sand?

CC is usually a nitrate sink, I stay away from it. Sand is better, I use aragonite. In a small tank like that I'd keep 1/2-1" rather than a DSB that does need to to be 4" or deeper(I usually do 5-6") to be effective. Shallow and vac/clean it, or DSB and never touch it other than very surface...

    Your input Please

A hydrometer, even calibrated can be off just w/ temperature variations. I personally would not sweat changing salts, but keeping the same/stability would be my pref. Please don't do yourself harm by using tap, period, conditioner or not, most areas just contain too high TDS/phos and stuff that...

Woo Hoo, got my new 160g!!

Which, the whole tank, equipment, fish, corals, or all of it? It's almost always a slow building process/evolution, w/ hopefully more steps forward than backward. The actual tank itself I got a smokin' deal, $250 brand new(just tank)

How to sex the Green Mandarin Goby

LOL, thanks, the male was my avatar for a long time. The pair were awesome to watch, kind of like when hawks link and fall from the sky, but opposite, as the mandarins would go up to the surface and then break off. They did this only towards end of light cycle, usually when just actinics/getting...

How to sex the Green Mandarin Goby

Here's a pretty good pic of my male showing the spike dorsal fin. I had a pair that spawned pretty frequently, but they are very difficult to breed. I heard ORA is now breeding them, but they are one of a handful of successful mandarin breeders in the world. I also have pics of their spawning...

    Clownfish with No Anemone Rant!

Actually I think most just want a nemo starting out. Some people actually get the advice that clowns NEED a nem, which is not true. I actually do not recommend a nem in small tanks. Also, depending on clowns, they may never take to a nem, or may never show that symbiotic relationship.

    Gianormous Emerald Crabs

Mine has gotten just too big as well. I don't worry about fish too much, but he does knock over corals alot, even glued down corals. Sure did a great job on riding valonia though. Maybe trade to someone w/ a serious valonia outbreak?

    Frogspawn instead of anemone?

I would do FS or hammer in that size tank, and yes, you can add those much sooner than a nem.

    Lost Skunk Shrimp

Yeah, nothing obvious on fish list(haven't seen a tribal blenny?) Agree, molting makes them hide, and some make the mistake of over dosing iodine causing excessive molting/death. I've had many small peps go through overflow and into sump. Small chance your peps may have had issues w/ it if...
