Thanks for the replies, but all too far. Too bad. When it comes to fish keeping, sure is lonely out here. I'll hold them for another day, if no takers, they are gone.
I have about 20 stems of Italian Val and four small crypts which I will give to anyone who is close enough to pick them up. Been giving my harvests to a local fish store which is about 50 miles away, but am sick of it. Hate to throw them away though. Anyone near enough to Mountain City, TN to...
Probably a freshwater oligochaete. Here is a link with description/data - http://www.fcps.edu/islandcreekes/ecology/aquatic_worm.htm Probably harmless. My deep sand bed has a few in it and when I stir the sand and uncover one, my discus can't wait to eat it. They have been in there for a...
This probably doesn't completely solve the problem, but I had a ramshorn and pond snail explosion in my large tank which is heavily planted (they came free with some plants). I feed zuchinni to my plecos at night (sink with plastic clothespins). In the morning the rinds are covered with snails...
Thanks for the heads up. I got a reply to my post from OP stating he didn't get the PM. I received his PM and replied to it, no response. Sent email, who knows?
Sorry for the delay in replying. Yes the plants are live. The grass is dwarf sag. It can be kept shorter by upping the light, but I only have 156 watts over a six foot tank. All the plants are low light with regular shots of flourish and flourish excell.
Just read through the thread. That is a stunning tank. Makes me want to try it in one of mine. Curious about the source of your cork. Have not seen any like that around our area.

Here's my .02. All it takes is a look at my avatar. She is our fourth Scottish Terrier. Each has had a different personality. We raised lots of children with scotties present. One of our daughters currently has three of them. If you train them well and treat them as a...
It's been a year.
Just thought I would post an update on the tank. It's been a year since I set it up. There have been a few glitches, but overall keeping it has been a distinct pleasure. Plants are doing pretty good, given my low (or no) tech approach, and the fish seem to like it in there...
After being thrown by my horse three times in a week of elk hunting in Wyoming, my hunting buddies dubbed me "Gravity Jack". Decided that something positive should come from the experience, so adopted it as a username. Gave up on horses and switched to fish.:dive::dive:
Six months into the project.
It's been six months since I posted the first shots of my tank so thought I would put the current shots on for your viewing. Have added some discus and am going to increase the number. Plants have grown in pretty good, though the Amazon swords still have a way to...
Nice pictures. I agree with small largemouth bass and sunfish of some type. If I was one of the fish, I'd allow a little more space between myself and that big snapping turtle. Great closeups of the flowers.
