A healthy platy would not have problems with getting stuck to the filter intake. I would suspect injury or illness. Keep an eye on your other fish for signs of illness.
I always stumble on the spelling, and didn't have time to check it out earlier. But it seems it is the correct spelling :D, and I found out the other med recommended: levamisole. I don't think it's likely camallanus either, but it's good to note that praziquantel is not effective against all...
Try Hikari PraziPro (mixed with frozen food) or a medicated food with praziquantel and metronidazole. If you think you may be dealing with camallanus, then Praziquantel won't be effective...you'd want to go with a med like panacur (again mixed with food) and metro.
It's entirely possible that the filter did the trick. If you're still not 100% sure, though, it doesn't hurt to wait a little longer...better safe than sorry when introducing some new fish! :)
I've seen poops like that with my platies. I don't know that it's normal though. I haven't seen them poop like that since before they were treated for internal parasites.
What about creating a platform to place directly between the tank and the furniture? You could simply use MDF cut to size and painted with melamine (in a colour to match the trim on your tank).
