Beautiful, I really adore native fish. I've really wanted to setup a tank with wild caught or native fish from the the New York area, but NYC is catch and release only and the laws here for bait fish are really tough.

Wow, the color on that Dollar Sunfish is intense! Very similar to the Northern Longear.

I'm a fan of the northern longear sunfish. They get some really nice color as they reach subadults. Just keep in mind, some native fish may be illegal to keep as pets (laws vary from place to place).

No advice, but good luck. I used to keep VFTs and I would propagate them by cuttings from the rhizome. I never kept them longer then a few seasons when I used seeds.
