Are you considering live plants? Otherwise there would be no need for LED. Looks good, though. You might want to get a thermometer, unless your heater comes with one. I can't remember if they usually do. A knob for setting your heater to different temperatures doesn't accurately reflect actual...
You could certainly fit more in the tank then that. I would go with a larger 'centerpiece fish' otherwise your tank might get boring, since the fish you chose are all rather small. Do you know which cory's you are considering? There are alot of different species and sizes.
Also, if I'm not...
Also, I have seen a lot of UV bulbs, and have no idea which to consider. Are there any superior models out there that don't get too expensive? The same goes with the night lamp. I have no idea what is good for a night lamp. Am I looking for something like this...
Looks good to me. I would only put one male platy in. It won't slow their breeding, but it will stop fighting. They are generally peaceful except when it comes to breeding time.
Hello.
I haven't been on in a while, mainly because I got rid of all my tanks recently. School's gotten more serious, and I don't have the money nor the time to keep up a large aquarium.
However, I would like to set up a small 10 gallon vivarium using old supplies from my hermit crab tank.
I...
The cold air outside is going to draw heat from your tank, but since you are constantly heating the tank that will only lower the tank temperature a feww degrees. Hence you will need to turn up your heater a bit.
Personally, the situation you would be setting up would be so delicate that I...
Yes. Make sure you have no nipping fish, though. For obvious reasons. And I would add the angel last so it doesn't establish territory before you add the other fish. You should always add large/aggressive/territorial fish last. Good luck.
I thought about a species setup, then remembered that I was going to use it as my sump. :)
How do you think I could keep the sand from building up detritus since
it's so deep? Undergravel filter? I don't want to ruin the jawfish burrows and possibly hurt one of them every time I clean the sand.
The discus will not only outgrow the tank, but is very hard to take care of. The angels won't grow too big, but the tank won't be able
to handle 3 angels on top of all those other fish.
I'm pretty sure that most plecos can live in coldwater, but plecos are problematic. Also, I'm pretty sure nerites don't breed, so you'll need more than a few if you go that direction.
Also, how much live rock should I use? I'm probably going to pile them up into a big shorter pile rather than a huge cliff, because I don't usually like those formations, and I want to avoid cave-ins from the jawfish burrows. I keep reading different amounts per gallon, and I'm not sure which to...
Are there any other cardinals that would group that are Caribbean fish? I'm going to try and keep to Caribbean fish, because of a reef snorkeling trip I took in the Bahamas. I've realized there aren't many Caribbean species as there are Asian species, but I'm going to try. This isn't set in...
How do they harem if they are hermaphrodites? Will they just "swap" until they are happy in a harem if I just leave them be?
Also, I'm assuming that a Lantern Basslet wouldn't get along with the group of Chalkies, but will they mind their own business if I set up adequate territory for the...
I was looking at cardinals as a possibility, specifically the Flame Cardinals. How would they fit with the rest of the stock?
I already plan on using a terrarium mesh top as a jump cover. The holes are about a square centimeter each, so I don't think the yellowheads will be squeezing through...
I've been absent from the site for
a while too. I guess its ironic that as the Age of the Internet progresses, less people are on this particular site....
Hi,
I have recently started setting up a 55 gallon SW tank, and am looking for some fish that will school, or at least group, in my tank. They don't have to be coral-friendly, but I would prefer it that way. What I'm planning on so far for stock is:
3 Yellowhead Jawfish
1 Dwarf...
