    I am such an idiot....

Agree with XanAvaloni..... Get the liquid test kit. Also, Melafix has oil properties, so carbon, sponge and water changes will all help to reduce the concentration of Melafix that has been administered.

    Siamese fighting fish

Too many competing fishes on mid level and high level even though 90 gallon. Problem will be the tetras and gourami are issues surrounding fin nipping or aggressiveness against the Betta. Betta's are really slow swimmers so you might have a little problem when it comes to feeding as all the...

Cool small smart fish that don't nip?

Betta's don't really go well with a lot of fish. So no surprise there. With all the colourful and bright middle and top swimmers meaty eaters. It's really difficult to say for certain that they won't ever eat your shrimps. You'll definitely have to comprehend losing some. Especially if it's...

Betta in an aquarium with sand?

:omg:man! i've been letting the water to either sit on room temp or ensuring it's heated up with heater all these years. Well, 3 years to be exact. Lol...well, if my wife finds out this, she'll be laughing at my face and also giving me a ticking cause it was sort off my fault that we lost...

Betta in an aquarium with sand?

The property has a hot water storage tank. Therefore, unsure what metal properties are stored with the tank. Reading from websites, many suggest not to use hot water directly from the taps? I have also always thought that water conditioners need several hours to set properly to clear...

Betta in an aquarium with sand?

Interesting. I don't have any python water changing equipment, so having to put water with water conditioner in buckets, heated up until aquarium temp then only am I able to make a water change. Hence why I guess I find it a ball ache at times.:pc: Anyway's I think I had a mis-typo on pH...

Betta in an aquarium with sand?

3 males in a 10 gallon? Won't they have got all flared up all the time since I assume you used the divides to keep them apart? Man you must have had a job and a half to keep the 4 tanks at one point. I'm just about managing with the 2 I have now. Lol, seems like keeping goldfish are so...

My tank is almost cycled, need stocking guidance

Agreed but not all fries will survive. So getting males and females on a 1 to 2 ratio isn't a bad choice. The cories might have stumbled upon the eggs and devour them or when the fries hatch other fishes might eat them before they got a chance to grow old enough to fend for themselves...

Betta with a bad case of ich

Since, you said that your little one is getting better, I would just follow the advice given by BFM to increase heat to 86F to fasten the ich life cycle and continue with the salt and daily water change. WARNING :- Salt doesn't get vaporize from your tank. So only add once and then the...

Betta in an aquarium with sand?

Sure matey! No probs. I won't go for freeze dried in that case. I've already got these Tetra Bloodworms and Brine Shrimp in stock as I feed my tropicals with them. They are gel based. Hopefully they'll be suitable.

Betta in an aquarium with sand?

Limnophila Sessiflora plant has died. Sort of crumbled when I was doing the water change. Hmmmpphhh... Maybe because I planted it into the sand substrate?

    ammonia???? help??? ASAP

don't need to worry about stress zyme as just add it on as normal. The stres zyme would have settled on the gravels or filters by now. 30% - 50% water change daily until ammonia and nitrite are zero is the best way to way. Prolong ammonia and nitrite poisoning is the danger.

Betta in an aquarium with sand?

Cheers. I've taken your views. I've got Tetra Fresh Delica Bloodworm, Tetra Fresh Delica Brine Shrimp and the usual Tropical Flake Fish food. I'll give some variety over the 3 each day. So hopefully this variety would be enough. Check ammonia, nitrite, both zero today. Yay! I'll do a water...

Feeding tropical fish with goldfish pellets?

Totally agree that the protein composition could be different. Now going back many years while I was in high school I remember that we humans need meaty food since it has at least 22 types of protein which we our body needs. If we humans ate vegetables only, then we need to eat a large...
