    Disabled Goldfish gets "wheelchair"

I apologize if this has been posted already. I thought it was cute. YouTube user Synirr [...] created a harness that serves as a sort of life-preserver-turned-wheelchair to help restore the fish's ability to float around the tank. Read the full text here...

Are peacock gudgeons solely bottom dwellers?

Mostly, yes, but not entirely. Put them in a planted tank, with rocks and driftwood and they'll hover above those (instead of the substrate). This will get them to feel more comfy in the mid-level of the tank. And then there's feeding time -- they're happy to swim to the top of the tank for...

    Anubias aquarium fertilizer

I think you can use any of the basic liquid fertilizers, just follow the directions for dosage. I also use the plant tab type fertilizers on my anubias, but that's not going to do much good unless your plants have throw roots down into the substrate.

Is PH harder to maintain in RO water?

I forgot to add this. I have a couple of tanks that I keep in the 6.6 - 6.8 pH range. When I do partial water changes, I exchange out about 2 - 3 gallons at a time. The water I use to replenish is about 1 part tap, 4 parts RO or rain water. The pre-treatment pH is usually around 7.8 - 8.2...

Is PH harder to maintain in RO water?

No, the PH Up and PH Down products are really not great ideas to use, I believe they cause fluctuating pH and don't keep things stable. If you're going the chemical route, look for pH buffers. Seachem makes a variety of such products (there are probably other manufacturers as well) -- acid...

Is PH harder to maintain in RO water?

Lots of things alter the pH of your water (you probably already know that). If you're using RO water, it's better to add back in some tap water or use some of the pH buffering chems to keep things stable. There are also non-chemical additives you can use to adjust pH up (oyster shell...

Growing live plants in a LED lit aquarium

Agreed, did you get the single or double bright fixtures? I believe it will make a difference as to how your plants will do and what you can grow. I got the double brights and have been very pleasantly surprised. The tank with LEDs gets little supplemental light, but the plants have done...

White film on my Clown Loach's stripes - I'm puzzled.

Without photos or knowing more info about your tank, this is all conjecture so take it with a grain of salt. It could be that your fish is stressed. Clown loaches prefer to live in groups -- not that I recommend a group of clown loaches for the average hobbiest since these fish get quite large...

Tank finally cycled. Peacock gudgeons anyone?

Yes. They are beautiful little fish. I haven't managed to breed them yet, but otherwise they're all doing well. If you get young fish, they may be shy at first, but once they get used to your set-up, you'll see them frequently. As they reach maturity, you'll see them a lot, but they probably...

    What the hell is this?!

In light of the fact that there's a bubble floating at a constant distance above a tunnel of sand particles, there's really only one conclusion since there's absolutely nothing connecting the bubble that's hovering only a short distance above the tube -- it's aliens. Yes, aliens are responsible...

    Butterfly Fish.

When I was a kid, we had one in a 20 high, but personally, I think that's a bit small -- these guys spend pretty much all their time at the surface, so probably a 30 or 40 gallon would be better, and 55 would be a lot better. The last one I had, I kept in a 55 gallon tank, and it lived a few...

Aplocheilus Lineatus all male spawning behavior?

I'm guessing you have fairly young fish. If they're young and you've only had them a short period of time, then they probably have not developed their full color -- so males and females may appear to be similar in size & coloration at this point. As they age and adjust to presumably much...

    40 breeder grow/show tank

Perhaps the shrimp breeder was colorblind?

    Kind of disappointing...

I don't have any comment on your predicament, but I did want to throw this bit of information out there for others who may be reading. I was concerned as to whether LED would be enough for my tanks. I purchased the Marine Land double bright that's sized to a 10 gallon tank. I've actually been...

    Shelving?

I have a similar shelf (looks the same, purchased from Lowe's, except it 48" wide) and initially had the same hesitation to use it. The individual shelves are compressed particle board, which is more water resistant, but as added precaution, I wrapped each board in several layers of heavy duty...

    125 gallon aquarium

My vote goes for heavily planted, with a higher number of smaller (but not necessarily small) fish. Part of this depends on your budget, of course. I think a 125 would look incredible with an array of various Australian Rainbows. There are so many colors to choose from, so you really get to...

    How long before eggs hatch?

Fish usually hatch the moment they emerge from their eggs. Looking at the photo in your post, I'm guessing your fish may be remora sharks, based on the way they're attached to your email -- but that's just a guess.

    Do daphnia smell bad??

I keep my daphnia/green water/copepod culture well-aerated in a fairly large 2 gallon pickle jar. For all intents and purposes, there's no noticeable odor. The only time it "stinks" is when I do a partial water change and really stir up the muck at the bottom of the jar, and even that...

    Unexplained Die-Off

I'm pretty sure Baby Jesus has made his way around the world and raptured all the good fish, leaving behind the sinful ones.
