Help please, want to convert planted to cichlid

Hey all, I just haven’t enjoyed my planted tank for the last 3 years. It used to have CO2 but with the awesome growth it was too much work. I now keep it low tech with some liquid carbon addition and weekly fertilization but I just really don’t like a low tech tank vs the incredible CO2 driven...

Cardinal Tetra in QT Looks Injured or Sick

Today is Day 6 of the treatment. The affected fish do not appear to have any changes in symptoms, except maybe the one with two growths which appear to have gotten larger. The other fish are still all the same.

Cardinal Tetra in QT Looks Injured or Sick

well pretty much all bacteria or fungus. is there a recommended broad-based treatment method? I would hate for the other 8 to all be affected and me to lose the whole batch in QT, especially if I can help out the 2 that are currently having issues : /

Cardinal Tetra in QT Looks Injured or Sick

Well I got off my butt and fixed the light so I could run this down further. Here are some pictures of what I'm talking about. I also made an attempt to video, because that way I could manually zoom by moving the camera back and forth; most informative shots are of the "fin" infected fish at...

Cardinal Tetra in QT Looks Injured or Sick

Note: this isn't new from yesterday, I also noticed it but wasn't 100% positive till I got a better look. Another cardinal in this QT tank also has something funky going on with what looks like a similar "bubble" right where his mouth is and another next to or near his eye. These are little...

Cardinal Tetra in QT Looks Injured or Sick

Also there is no white poop or anything unusual showing up either.

Cardinal Tetra in QT Looks Injured or Sick

Hello, I am unable to get a good pic, but there is a cardinal tetra in new-fish-quarantine that I noticed has something going on with his right pectoral fin. I am unsure if it was wounded or there is some sort of infection. It appears to be sticking out horizontally and quite visible relative...

Need some advice. What should I do?

In January, call your water provider and ask if they've done something different in the last couple of days to the water supply. Don't change the water that week if they have. Problem solved? I call my water provider after every major storm, it only takes a few minutes for them to answer your...

Filtration on 40G Breeder Tank Too Much?

I use 2 x Eheim 2217 on my 40breeder, each one of which is the same GPH rating as your Fluval 304. I drilled out the holes in the spraybars larger to diffuse the velocity a bit.

bolivian ram or other fish for this set up

Here is an image of my 3 foot x 18" deep x 18" tall 40 Gallon breeder tank. I've never kept any type of fish besides cories and tetras (had a brief spell with gourami but only for a couple of weeks before moving them out to a more suitable tank setup with a different owner) Is that tank set...

    Microwaving water?

Sometimes RO water doesn't boil - until it's disturbed, when it turns into a giant pile of instantly evaporating steam which is very dangerous as it suddenly expands into a very large cloud, right in your face, chest and hands probably. This can also sometimes happen even with tap water if...

    cleaning sand substrate

To Pre-clean playsand, I put a garden hose in a 2 gallon bucket half filled with sand, and swirl the sand around for about 5-10 minutes. Repeat until you have enough sand. Makes good work of a saturday morning.. : )

    Quarantine Tank Disaster

The remaining fish are all either dead or dying (in the 4 hours since I went to work and got back w/ early dismissal). This is the most distressing image I have ever seen in my tank. A pile of dead pygmy cories, and tetras stuck to the the aquaclear inlet. I am sickened...I have never lost a...

    Quarantine Tank Disaster

    b) I may have contaminated the tank with soap or some hardcore scrubbing/cleaning powder while doing dishes ,the cat box, and some tank items right after. If that is the case is my bio filter screwed as well? I can move in media from another filter and will do so before I have to LEAVE tonight...

    Quarantine Tank Disaster

I have a 15 gallon tank in which I had 7 juvenile cardinal tetras and 12 juvenile pygmy corydoras for the last week (of 4 weeks QT). I perform water changes daily or every other day with dechlor. Fish have shown no sign whatsoever of illness - no odd behavior, no markings, eating properly...

Sharpie Marker to replace Krylon Fusion for painting spraybar?

For the ones who say they wouldn't I am curious to know as to why they think it is more dangerous than Krylon Fusion spray paint.... But I will use the tried and true Krylon instead of Sharpie. Getting a 2nd set of filter pipes so I can keep my tank online and just swap in the new ones. Sucks...
