20 gallon long tank need some stocking ideas ?

I think a 20g is a little small for tiger barbs, but you could do some cherry barbs. They stay much smaller than tigers, and are very peaceful and can be mixed with most other small peaceful community fish. I used to have some in my old 20 and they were a really pretty, busy fish.

    Tap water has high pH

As others have already said, pH is really a non-issue. My water is hard as a rock and has a pH of 8 but all my fish do great. But... have you tried testing with the High Range test? Sometimes people think their pH is 7.6 because that's as high as the regular test goes. However, if you then...

    Shrimp ID please

I don't know what you're doing for your amanos, as I've never kept them. RCS are ridiculously easy, though. They're very flexible on temp and pH (I keep mine at 75-78 degrees, and my pH is 8.0 and they're breeding!), and will eat about anything. You'll probably end up wanting more! :)

    Shrimp ID please

I have about a dozen RCS, and about half have a very well-defined stripe. Some are more rust colored and some are more red.

Suggestions need for neglected, dehydrated chameleon

Sad to say this past Sunday he passed away. He'd been drinking lots of Pedialyte/water, and had eaten more waxworms. Thursday evening we noticed he was trying (unsuccessfully) to relieve himself. We began increasing his showers along with warm baths in an attempt to relieve his constipation...

Maybe getting a DSLR...need some tips.

A couple years ago, I got a Canon Rebel XTi with 18-55mm kit lens. I LOVED it and was planning to get a 75-300mm lens in the future. Then due to a series of unfortunate events, I needed the money and had to sell it. Biggest mistake I ever made. I should have sold a kidney instead, ha...

Suggestions need for neglected, dehydrated chameleon

Thanks for your encouragement, everyone! Today he has eaten 4 calcium-dusted waxworms, yay! We've also found that he will drink the Pedialyte/water straight from the bottle... If you put it up to his mouth and drip a few drops, he'll crack his mouth open and allow you to squirt a few drops...

Suggestions need for neglected, dehydrated chameleon

Craigslist. The guy wanted to get rid of him because he "didn't have enough time for him". It's a long story, but if you could have heard him explaining how he cared for him, you would have been appalled. Yeah, I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. The guy had had him for about 6...

Suggestions need for neglected, dehydrated chameleon

Not sure how many out there have chameleons, but I'm open to any suggestions. On Tuesday, we rescued a 3 year old veiled chameleon from an absolutely pitiful situation. How he is still alive is beyond me. He was being kept in a pitiful aquarium without sufficient heat, humidity, or...

What to do with a hitchhiking habrosus?

Thanks for all the responses. I think I'll at least give it a go. If I still don't see any baby shrimp a month or two from now (or notice disappearing babies), then I'll reconsider keeping them together. But it sounds like it's worth a shot! Thanks!

What to do with a hitchhiking habrosus?

While receiving a fish shipment today, I discovered a dwarf cory hitchhiking in a bag of otocinclus. From what I can tell, it appears to be corydoras habrosus (it's blotchy, not striped like corydoras pygmaeus). I've never seen one in person, but it was absolutely adorable and I didn't want...

Please help-- in head over heels at this point

4.0ppm is still bad. You might be worried about the pregnant molly, but the longer you wait on the water change, the more you're putting all your other fish at risk. Yes, if you could get some dirty substrate from your boyfriend's tank, that would help. However, expect to still be doing some...

Please help-- in head over heels at this point

Yikes. Sorry you got taken for a ride by the pet store. :( I'm sure others will have suggestions too, but if it were me, I'd do a 50% change immediately (and probably another 25% every couple days until you get that ammonia down). I don't know of any product that will enhance your biological...

Whats the hardest fish/creature youve ever had to net?

ACK! I can't even imagine. So the fish survived, but how about the couch lol? It reminds me of when I first started working at my LFS. We'd just received a bag of 300 2" feeder comet goldfish. One of my coworkers lifted the bag (about the size of a kitchen trash bag) by the wrong end and...

Stocking a 20 Gallon long? Please help!!

I've only ever had one dwarf gourami. It was ages ago, but he was quite peaceful. I could be wrong, but I think their aggression is generally toward their own kind, and less on other species.
