    New 38g tank

Bands going around the glass and on the back you mean? I just hadn't cleaned the glass since filling the tank with water those are just just bands from some of the fine sand particles that were floating around while I filled it.

My 90 gallon cracked, setting up new 150 gallon. I need HELP please!

Yeah fresh sand kicks up especially easy, you can add some of the old stuff but if your sand bed is already around 2" I'd only add a couple cups worth since you managed to keep your rock from having any die off the tank shouldn't go through much of a cycle. My last tank i used new sand and...

My 90 gallon cracked, setting up new 150 gallon. I need HELP please!

cloudiness should settle on its own with in 24 hours or so, you can add the rock now though, have you kept your old rock wet? I'd shoot for about 2" of sand max. skimmer can go on as soon as you have the tank filled up.

How To Save 75gal Tank Full of Live Rock

No lights for a few/several days, also try attacking the cause of algae nitrates and phosphates.

    Regal Tang

If the QT is done I would move her. If you're not going to upgrade within the next 6 months I'd continue looking to rehome her, maybe try looking for a local reef forum. Other then that I'll assume you've read up on the species and taking care of proper dietary needs and what not. BTW I...

How To Save 75gal Tank Full of Live Rock

I've never really had to battle bubble algae before but being non reef tank couldn't you just do a black out for a week or whatever it takes? The rock in my one tank is close to 10 years old, my uncle has had the same rock since like 1988. Worse come to worse I wouldn't replace it just nuke it...

    Peppermint Shrimp

I've had several shrimp and crabs release eggs or young in my tanks, none have ever been viable. They all generally go through several planktonic stages before assuming adult form and the typical aquarium just wont support them through those stages.

    How Gross are Black Worms?

Never thought of them as gross though my gf finds it disturbing i keep them on fridge door right next to the butter.. I've never had a sustained population though i never tried for it either sometimes when overfeeding some would make it to the bottom and bury themselves into the sand and poke...

How Big of a Tank Is Needed?

They do school together but they are also still damsels and can be very aggressive to each other, in the wild or large tanks they have the room to escape or get lost in the numbers, when you stick just 5 or 6 in a 55g aquarium not so much. Some people do get lucky and get a group who dont kill...

How Big of a Tank Is Needed?

I don't know a friend bought an expensive 'bonded pair' from divers den and they were ok for a couple months then one ended up looking beat up then dead.

How Big of a Tank Is Needed?

They'll each fight with in their own species till eventually only ones left. I know people who've bought supposed bonded firefish pairs from divers den on liveaquaria and one ended up dead eventually.

Does anybody like/use 2x250 watt metal halides and leds for their salt setups?

Current USA is pretty decent quality. If one wanted to do a reef tank halides would be a good way to go they'll grow just about any coral you want. Main downside with halides is they give off a lot of heat and suck up a lot of electricity compared to LED's.

Does anybody like/use 2x250 watt metal halides and leds for their salt setups?

I am all LED now but I've used halides in the past. 2 250's is a lot of light be good for growing sps.

    Diving into zoas?

They're pretty low maintenance nothing special really to prep for them supplement wise if you're already using reef salt mix. Make sure you have all your fragging equipment ready if you're transplanting them around.

Freshwater invert for smallish planted sump. Please help me find a critter!

Cherries will do fine I've kept them with plants growing out of the water they dont climb out. The only crabc that would probably be ok in that size setup are thai's I don't know if those will try to climb out.

Freshwater invert for smallish planted sump. Please help me find a critter!

In my experience ghost shrimp have a tendency to jump, when I kept them always had dead ones stuck to glass tops. Neocardina types dont jump but I dont know how well they'll tolerate cold water(mine did survive at 65ish degrees for a week during Sandy)

    Need help choosing coral

Personally I'd upgrade or add some additional lighting before doing coral, 2 tubes isn't enough for any SPS, and rather limiting on everything else as well. You should be able to do the standard little mushrooms, zoa's, and some polyp's. for LPS MAYBE tube coral and duncan's. But if I was you...
