Ideas on moving a 125gl Discus tank

You may need to acclimate them to the new water, so that may or may not take some time. Are your discus pretty hardy?

Ideas on moving a 125gl Discus tank

It's a good idea to check out the source water parameters of the new location in case it's drastically different. Do you have gravel or sand substrate? Sand can be a bit messier if you're moving and reusing it. That'll just require more rinsing/water changes/filter floss when you get there...

Angels gasping, loaches upside down, all fish in distress

I'm just going to throw this question out there for myself and maybe kjr, also. Could increasing surface agitation to gas off CO2 without doing a water change drop the ph? There's no kh mentioned

    90 Litre Tank Stocking

Heck yes! And a lot of stores like that can special order for you if their vendor has the fish available. For vendors like segrest farms, you can go to their website and see what they can ship to their stores

    90 Litre Tank Stocking

If that were my tank, I'd add a single female krib. They are much prettier than the gouramis imo. But if you want to see interactions, then the gouramis might be better

    90 Litre Tank Stocking

I agree that a nice school of small fish is a great centerpiece for a tank, and it tends to be more appropriate for the smaller tanks. And a nice alternative to a bristlenose is a school of otocinclus. They are adorable and low-key, and people love seeing them eat fresh fruits and veggies...

Tiger Barb: Couple Questions in School Size and Odd Behavior

I had a school of 12 in a 29g for a couple years before moving. They weren't hard on water quality. When I moved and got a 4 foot tank, they were much more enjoyable to watch, and the dominant ones grew a little bigger. So while a 29 worked, the 60 worked much better. It's also hard to...

    nitrogen cycle stuck?!

Amen! It gives people something to work with. And don't feel bad, Byron will hit you with a proportionately winded post to probe for info and answer any questions you can think of :D

    nitrogen cycle stuck?!

Along the lines of this, 4ppm ammonia in a 120g is a lot of ammonia for not having an ammonia source. (Steps 17-18) Have you been consistently checking your ph and kh? A low kh can potentially lead to disaster since the nitrogen cycle tries to drop ph, and kh is your buffer to keep your ph up...

Neon's getting eatin....Which fish is the culprit??

My guess is there's a hard to find sweet spot where all of the bodies are settling after they die of being transferred... probably twice within a few days. Or they're being picked apart after they die. Or have you checked the floor behind your tank? Where did you buy them? What are your...

    Moving fish cross country?

It's doable. It'll be hard to bring every fish... I'd just get some sponge filters seeded, little battery powered air pumps, and some plastic totes. It would just be easier to mail them, though.

Tiger Barb: Couple Questions in School Size and Odd Behavior

If you want to see some really fun interactions, drop in some ghost shrimp that are just the right size to stick halfway out of their mouths when they eat them. It becomes a big game of keepaway :D

Tiger Barb: Couple Questions in School Size and Odd Behavior

Greens, albinos, and normals will all school happily together. If the barbs in the new group are a bit smaller that the rest of the barbs, they may stick to themselves for a while before joining the current school
