Total stock consists of 4 "electric yellow"... 4 demasoni... And 2 synodontis petricola... The demasoni have bread... But none seem to make it to maturity... Some day maybe... Lol

Thanks for all the advice... I was pretty sure 6 bulb would be ok, but I didn't want to outlay the extra money for a fixture that would have been more light than needed... I understand that a taller tank would need more light than a shorter, but wanted to be sure since I would be possibly in the...
I'm not sure what size exactly I will end up with, but I'll be in the 20-40 gal range... I have decided that a T5 HO fixture, namely an AquaticLife.... will best suit my budget. My question is... Given the gallon range of expected tank size... Am I better off with a 6 bulb fixture, or a 4 bulb...
At the 1 year anniversary of this tank... Beautiful fish... Demasoni and what I'm told is some sort of Electric Yellow cross... Followed by a video of my pair of Synodontis Petricola playing in the freshly scoured tank... They are so much fun to watch... Thanks for looking!
And a short video...
Almost 1 year since I started the tank... I have had good luck minus the Angels... They just couldn't seem to compete for food, and didn't make it... Other than those three... no deaths! Enjoy! I wish I could get better pictures, but I'm limited to a point and shoot without a flash...:(
Thanks XMX... Pretty sure ya nailed it... There was only one other that it might have been... Synodontis Lucipinnis.... Close enough. I appreciate your reply... Thanks!
I bought this and another with Electric Yellows and Demasonis... I have forgotten the name of this fish... Any help? Sorry for poor picture quality... Hard enough just for him to come out and be visable...LOL
You mentioned the hurricane and the East Coast... I was about 6 weeks into a fishless cycle that wasn't coperating (long story)... I had a bacteria colony going, but was waiting for the Nitrites to dissapear when the hurricane hit... I was without power for 6 days... I didn't even have any fish...
It did in fact sink... and I do believe I read that before... so ya... I have a 2 bulb T5 fixture... It's the ZooMed brand listed at top of page in an ad...daylight balanced Flora-Sun bulbs... color represented in picture is fairly accurate, however the camera did auto correct some what for the...
I bought the driftwood at an excellent LFS... I believe its Malaysian... but not sure... I have to do a WC every couple days... turns water real yellow
*UPDATE*
As of today... I have 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrite, and 10ppm Nitrate... I think I finally made it... only took 6 weeks...LOL I'm still scratching my head why the levels wouldn't drop with water changes, but I guess it really doesn't matter at this point... I did 3 different things...
When I test for Nitrite... The test solution turns purple... dark purple... before I even shake the tube... Oh and I always make sure the tubes are clean before testing... And I don't mean I use soap either...
I have a well... And I have "Petco Aquarium Gravel"... natural, not colored... "High quality, non toxic"... I have no idea what the hardness is. When I test... I shake for five seconds... wait for 5 mins... read results... get frustrated...LOL
Is it possible that I am disturbing the gravel too much when I'm filling the tank back up?... do Nitrite live and collect in the gravel?... My bed is about 2 inches thick... Is this not enough?... This is the only other thing I can think of...
