I use miracle gro organics choice potting soil and highly suggest it. My plants grow much better in it than they did with just ecocomplete as a substrate. I used ecocomplete as a cap but that's just because that's what I had. You can use pool filter sand or just about anything else as a cap...

I doubt you could get one to eat flakes. Mine eats frozen blood worms and freeze dried blackworms and snails. They have to have something crunchy like snails in their diet to keep their teeth warn down.

Nice! I can't wait until I'm a home owner and can have a 100+ gallon tank. Right now I'm in an apartment and aquariums are not usually allowed in my complex but I got permission when we signed out first lease. I'll be checking out your build log after I post this.

Lights: 36" Finnex Monster Ray & 36" Finnex Planted+ (both are LED fixtures)
Powerhead: Cobalt MJ-1200
Heater.... Aqueon something?? Keeps the tank at a steady 85...
