tank size - 10 gal
fish - 4 neon tetras and 1 bristlenose pleco
feeding plan - flakes once a day for the tetras, and I drop in a fresh broccoli every day for the pleco so he always has something to munch on.
The tank is pretty heavily planted, I've got a bunch of hygrophila polysperma, riccia...
Hey guys, so the flow on my HOB filter (marina s15) slows down every week. I've found that cleaning the impeller every week gets the flow back up to normal for 1-2 days before it slows down again. When I take out the impeller to clean it, it usually isn't very dirty. This has been happening for...
Ok thanks! I am going to the LFS this weekend and seeing if they have some good swordtails. Also my family members seem to like:
- glowlight tetras
-black ruby barbs
-cherry barbs
-silver tipped tetras
-Cuming's barbs
I'm pretty sure my tank can hold at least 5 individuals of one...
Hi, I'm thinking of getting some fish for my 29 gallon tank that's currently stocked with a lone corydoras catfish ( yes I know it's not an ideal situation), a bristlenose which may or may not have a taste for fish slime coats, and six lemon tetras. The tank temperature is around 25 to 26...
I guess the problem went away on it's own. Today my bristle nose was eating. I think there must've been some natural algae in the cave or something. Or maybe I did a water change. Anyways, thanks for your help guys!

Food: boiled veggies, mostly broccoli or cucumber or zucchini
I do not have a day night cycle, the light just comes in when I want to view the fish
Substrate: gravel
No driftwood
Help! My bristlenose pleco is staying in the cave all the time, and doesn't even come out to eat! He also refuses to eat the food we give him. Even if he does come out, he just stays on top of the cave and barely moves. His color is a lightish brown with mottled yellow.
Does anyone know what's...
HELP!!!!!!!
So today my lemon tetra died. It has dropsy, and hasn't been eating. It was breathing heavily. It was picked on by other fish a lot, and I discovered that it has this red spot on it's belly and looks like it was bleeding ( but it wasn't). There's this white u- shaped spot on the red...
Today my idiot little brother wanted to buy some Julii cories. I told him that our substrate was too sharp and big, and that we don't even have test kits so i didn't know if they'll make it. He bought them anyways- and the worst part is that he only bought two of them. I was quite sure that they...
Okay so yesterday I went to the store and got a new u2 fluval internal filter as a replacement for my faulty tetra whisper 30. Today I noticed that one of the platies was resting on the ground with half clamped fins. I ruled out that it would be high ammonia or nitrite levels since my...
100 tetras in a 55 would be overstocking, I should think. A school of thirty or more Norman's lampeyes would look great. BTW they are killifish.

Oh and the danios are moving their tails in a 'scissorlike' action ( like scissortail rasboras ). Is this normal? What can I use to vary their diet? I'm thinking of begging my dad for some freeze dried food for Christmas, plus I want to feed them veggies. So far I have peas, lettuce, and...
Yesterday I went to the fish store to get five zebra danios. It turned out that they weren't all zebra danios- one was a leopard danio! They went home to a tank with a pair of platies and a baby bristlenose. The temperature of the tank is between 74-76 Fahrenheit. Is that too warm for them? They...
Look around at your aquatic store. They should have some spare parts for products. Or ask where the person that gave the filter to you got it. There must be some parts at that store as well.
Looks like a skin ulcer to me. Take a look at this website:
