I have 3 oto cats in my 40 gallon tank. I think I want to move them to my 10 gallon where theres a lot of green algea for them to eat. The problem is finding the three of them in the tank and then catching them.
Any idea on how to catch them?
Thanks for the help/tips. I would really not rather use it but that's a lot to through away and not use. Maybe ill try a homemade food along with a good staple diet.
It sucks to because I ended up getting a giant container, sigh :headshake2: I don't know why but I ended up getting on that you would usually buy for a pond. Any thoughts as to what to do with the leftovers. Ive probably only used 5-10% of the entire container so far.
Personally at the moment...
Hmm that might be it. Its weird since I only feed them once a day. Maybe they don't like it enough to eat enough before it goes in the filter. Im going to have to go the petstore soon to get them some new food. Right now im since im not going to give them the flakes I am feeding them shrimp...
Yes, I use the media that comes with the tank. I just replaced the sponge filter two weeks ago when I cleaned out the filter. And I rinsed out the other two filter media's that I have in there with tank water as well.
I have a feeling it probably got into the moter area again. This is...
I had just cleaned out the filter intake tubes before I posted the question and now I just plugged it in. Still not working well. If I put it at its lowest flow its only trickling. But if I put it on the highest flow the water back up so much that it comes out on the outflow part but as well as...
For my 50 gallon goldfish tank (there are 2 of them) I have a 75 Aquaclear filter. It worked rather well in the beginning and kept the water clean. But in recent months ive been having isues with it. Before, it wasn't picking up debrie quite as well and the basket kept lifting. But now all of...
That's what I plan on doing :-). Fingers crossed that their still in stock when i go back. Im not usually a tetra person but i really like the look of these ones. I haven had them in the tank for to long and after 1 day they were already comfortable coming up to the front of the tank and...
In that case ill pick up some more girls soon.
On that topic, I know they sell both Black Phantom Tetra and Red Phantom Tetra. Will these school because their both phantom tetras or are they the same species but different branches of it?
If the do school and I find some red PT's would it be ok...
I just bought 5 black phantom tetras today after I finally found them at petco. After I got home I looked up how to determine gender and it seems that I have 4 boys and 1 girl. I read somewhere that the ratio of male to female should be 1:3, is this correct?
I was also wondering should I return...
I had gotten a molly from petco and was going to return her because I couldn't keep her. Well two days before we were going to bring her back she decided to have her fry. I ended up with 17 little babies. But because they were premature and I wasn't really prepared ive lost 9 fry leaving me with...
A week ago I had purchased a molly from petco but I chose to bring her back this weekend. But she dedicded to have her babies on thursday, two days before going back to the store. When I collected the fry up after I found them I counted 17. Both mom and fry temporarily shared a 2 gallon for a...
Thanks for all the help every one :)
I guess I will just have to stick with my goldies.
Maybe I will get another snail, that should help eat the algea a bit better.
Lmouthbass- thanks for the tip :) but im very attached to my goldies and I would never give them up. If I could I would love to...
Ok thanks for the advice. I had heard around that a few types of plecos could live with goldfish.
As for filtration I have a aquaclear 70.
I also don't have any subrate other then a few scattered "river" rock.
Is there anything else that I could keep with my goldies that doesn't get to big and...
I currently have a 50 gallon with a comet and a shubunkin goldfish, 4-5 (I don't know if ones hiding or missing) rosy red minnows and a black mystery snail.
I know I will probably get yelled at for having even 1 comet in a 50 gallon but I didn't know any better when I got him and he went from a...
Luckily I had a divider. so the minnows are on side and the goldies on the other. Its not the best fit since I tried cutting it down to fit my 40 gallon tank but that didn't fit,
Any ideas though on how to fix this situation?
So I came home today to my comet goldfish trying to be a hungy hungry hippo and attempting to "eat" (I think) my rosy red minnows) which he has never done before and hes "grown up" with them. But I have been feeding trying to feed them a little less and the two goldies are getting into a few...
