How well would a Desert Goby work in a community tank?

Thank you. Still not sure if I want to take the plunge. I saw a goby at Petsmart yesterday. I remember reading "Goby" on the tag, but can't remember which goby it was. This thing was about 5-6 inches long though. I didn't think the Desert ones got that long. It was blueish on it's body too. Very...

How well would a Desert Goby work in a community tank?

Mark, thank you for your reply. By extreme diggers, do you mean they dig up the entire tank, or just a hole here and there? I could handle that, but not "crater" everywhere that I'd constantly have to fill in.

How well would a Desert Goby work in a community tank?

I saw them for sale, and I have a 55 gallon with various mollies, a betta sorority, an Apisto, an Angel, Rainbowfish, Cherry barbs and Dojo Loaches. Is there any danger of them being aggressive to anyone?

LFS sold these to me as platies!

Okay, well, I guess the mystery has been solved. Mollies. Thanks, you guys!

LFS sold these to me as platies!

I bought 5 of these cute little things and have them in a quarantine tank. The LFS said they were platies, so I assumed very dark Bumblebees. I posted on another board and was told they look like Gold Dust Mollies. Well, they are DARTING around like crazy. I know platies are fast, but I've never...

    WTB WTB Cherry Barbs!

I have a lone female who's boyfriend died and she's very lonely! Anyone have Cherries? I'd like anywhere from 1-4. One or two males and two females. I live in S. California. Thanks!

    Got two new bettas. Marbles?

I've posted on other boards--no answers yet. I got a male and female betta yesterday. The baby (I hope is a female). Are they marbles? The first two pics are the same fish, but with and without use of a flash. The little one--does it look like it might be a female to you?

New Balloon Molly, going into labor?

I did a 20% water change and put the air stone in, and she started improving almost right away. She stopped gasping at the top within ten minutes. She went to the bottom and laid there, but didn't look sick, just tired. Over the next couple of hours she got slightly more active. Not moving...

New Balloon Molly, going into labor?

I got four fish yesterday at an LFS, acclimated them for an hour, and added them to my 55 gallon. The other three are fine, swimming and eating. The balloon molly was at the surface this morning, gasping for air. I did a 20% water change and added an air stone. Also, I left the water level 2...

    Endlers 10 gallon tank

    Thank you, Freshyfresh!

    Endlers 10 gallon tank

I have Tiger endlers, about 20 of them, in a 10 gallon tank. Out of my three tanks, that one is running high on nitrates. Unless I do a 40% water change every 4-5 days, it goes to 40 nitrates. Am I overstocked? Is that why my nitrates run high? I only have a few small plants in there so far...

    Very Pretty Betta!

Wow, is he a Dragon Scale with pink fins? Never seen one quite like it. I love the irridescence!

    Weather Loach - Tank Decor

The Golden Dojos (from what I hear) don't get as big--maybe 4 inches at maturity. I have two in a 55 gallon and am thinking of getting another. They are out during the day as well as night, and it's so true--what characters they are! They are always playing and slinking about, happy little...

    Beta Rescue

I don't believe in the plop and drop, as you would be introducing the water from the store into your tank, and you don't want that, as it could carry any matter of bacteria, fungus, ich, etc. Remember, these stores are run on a CENTRAL SYSTEM, which means all the tanks are exposed to the same...

    Am I overstocking?

This LFS guy is really misguided! Less than a gallon for a betta? I would put a betta in nothing under 10 gallons. I have a sorority of 7 female bettas in a 55, it's also a community tank, and you should see them darting about! They love all the space, so no one can tell me bettas are happy...

    Completely New to Fish

I'd start with nothing less than a 20 gallon, but that's me. If something goes wrong in a small tank, it goes wrong FAST, and you could end up with dead fish pretty quick. 20 gallons is a nice starting point. You can have several fish of different types. What kind of fish do you like the look...

    HOB vs Sponge Filter?

I love HOB and that is what I've always used. Seems to do a great job--my tanks are never less than crystal clear. And you can baffle the flow with sponges, as mentioned. HOBs are versatile, in my opinion. Just take a cup or so of water out of your tank and squeeze the sponge into it until the...
