I use magnolia and oak leaves, so there are tannins from those. Not a full on layer, but some. Another thing I was thinking is some sort of anabantoid, like an unusual small gourami species.
The filter is off mostly for the reason that it bothers the butterfly fish since it is an hob filter. I really need to get a canister to disturb the surface a little less. I guess the hastatus are a no go then. What about micro-rasboras, they are small but a large school would be impressive.
At the moment, my filter is just unplugged since the bioload is so low. Plants and water changes clean it plenty. I can always start it up however. I only mention those cories because I know they school at the midwater level, and would enjoy exploring the wood crevices higher up in the tank.
it is a 26 gallon bow front tank. Dimensions are 24 inches long, 15 inches wide, 21 inches high. I also have a large central piece of root that wouldn't leave angelfish enough space to swim.
maybe give some native fish a try? Sunfish are cichlids and behave as such, and a stream setup similar to that for hillstream loaches gives you hundreds of choices alone. We have so many underrated fish that are worth a look! Not his best picture, but this is my adult male Rainbow Darter
Hello!!! It's been awhile since I've been on here, mostly due to the crash of my main tank, and from then on keeping mostly native fishes. Its great to be back! But anyway; about 6 months ago or so my main display 26 gallon bowfront tank was overtaken by an extreme case of ich. I lost all 9 of...
Hello AC! Long time no see! Anyway, I have a few spots available on my fish rack, but only enough space for a 20 gallon or two. I just recently purchased my first banjo catfish and have had my female farlowella for awhile and was wondering if anyone with more experience than I could let me know...
Sorry, it has been a crazy month, but the fry are doing great and feeding on flake! They look like little almost replicas of their parents, and I will post a pic once I can get a good one. Is there anything else I am missing besides the frequent water changes and feedings?
I havent fed yet, i just mean the infusoria culture doesnt look like it is working. They are starting to swim a little, but i wont feed till tomorrow or the next day. What should I feed in place of the infusoria?
A few fry clinging to the glass... Srry for bad pics, water is really stained. Theyre not free swimming yet, but the infusoria isnt working so is there anything i can do? Theres a ton of little creatures in the tank breeding and they look almost like the right size.
