Can I add anything to my planted community 52 gallon tank?

Very nice looking tank! It would be better to get more neons, but angels and neons are not a good mix, as the angels grow they tend to eat them one by one. Corydoras do better in larger schools as well.

LED Lights Question / Thoughts / Opinions......

Realize you all are trying to push a new member to get less quality, low CRI lighting because I didn't recommend the right brand, or maybe your resentment of me. Do you think that's a good thing? He/she asked for specific recommendations, and I recommended excellent quality lighting, that I...

LED Lights Question / Thoughts / Opinions......

The first link has some good information, though the example (a room lighted by 10k lights and a tank lighted by 2700k) is too extreme to have any value. Your understanding and statement about a CRI of 65 being yellow is still wrong. I understand "CRI doesn't have to do anything with plant...

Almost time to begin adding fish, but in what order?

It depends really on the stock you're getting. Quality of cardinals has really gone down since they started mass farming them ±10 years ago. Neons were mass farmed way before that, and got weaker because of that too, but I hear there are also good quality neons again.

LED Lights Question / Thoughts / Opinions......

No, you're wrong about CRI; it is a measurement of the "ability of a light source to reveal the colors of various objects faithfully in comparison with an ideal or natural light source." Plants have evolved on natural light, that's a fact, and grow very well when natural light is closely matched...

    Problems with shipping fish?

For one, that family might own the building by now and no longer has to pay rent or mortgage, which could make quite a difference. And then to think the wholesale price of golden barbs is like 60 cents...

    Will my weather loach grow

Look up the Ohio Fish Rescue on FB, contact them or leave a message at their FB group. They have a network of aquarists with large tanks and will arrange for someone to pick your weather loach up at no charge, and give it a good home.

    3 spot with pearl gourami

Pleco wafers from any brand aren't going to do anything for your gourami. If they even eat them, those are pretty hard bits, I'd say they'd spit them out. If you want to do something for them feed them some live foods, or like tiny pieces of cooked broccoli (they might not like that either)

    Will my weather loach grow

FA is right about all of that. They are very social fish and it is really lonely now. You might want to consider rehoming it and get fish that do well in a 10 G. I have weather loaches myself, they can easily grow 4" in a year without power feeding them.

    Nice bushy plant recommendation?

Here are some things that I would consider first... availability, price, size and difficulty. It would be useless to recommend you something that is not available, you can't afford or outgrows your tank. It would be better if you list some plants here that you can get, and you like, and we can...

    What’s on my Sterbai

Again, not true. I didn't attack you and I didn't tell Railer to do nothing. I just told the truth, which is this sterbai can't possibly be diagnosed by a blurry picture, not all fish or diseases can be cured, I am not giving him false hope. Two tank is projecting; If you don't believe me...

    What’s on my Sterbai

So you can't identify the fungus, yet you are sure it is one. Which fungus is it, that makes you think it is a fungus?

    Bosemani with body sores

It might not be bacterial... It is good though that it hasn't gotten worse. What you could try; Raise temperature to ±84 degrees, and raise the pH/KH/GH so you get a pH of at least 7,8 and GH of 10. Maybe add a bit of salt too like 8 to 10 grams per gallon. If you want to spend another couple of...

Starting a 75 gallon planted aquarium

An inert substrate with root tabs is easier for a beginner for sure. One commonly made mistake is to get the substrate either too fine or too coarse. A grain size of around 2mm is best. You can add plants from the beginning.

LED Lights Question / Thoughts / Opinions......

He wasn't wrong when he said 'any light will grow most plants' but that is barely advice. I thought you got a new CLF? But that is exactly what I've been trying to tell you and others, get enough light of the right quality and it will look better and the plants will grow better.

LED Lights Question / Thoughts / Opinions......

So why are you surprised your plants are growing well after increasing the amount of light by 8? Don't know the guy (or fish?) and am not going to watch it. For what purpose? I did tell you Doug was not wrong when he said you can grow most plants with about any light, meaning also CFL's. It's...

LED Lights Question / Thoughts / Opinions......

He wants a cheaper Led, to grow plants, that preferably fits the entire length of his tank. My recommendation ticks all of those boxes. Or do you think I should have suggested fluorescent lighting? It is not my opinion that high CRI lights are the best (and certainly in a tank). It is just a...

LED Lights Question / Thoughts / Opinions......

Which is the poor generalization? Doug is right that about any light will grow most plants, if you have enough of it. But that's not advice for someone who wants to know what the best light is. Why recommend someone the worst light you can find, just to make a point it can grow plants as well...

LED Lights Question / Thoughts / Opinions......

If I remember correctly you had a very weak light (CFL?) to begin with. Increasing the wattage will of course grow plants better as before. I think Dougall will agree with me CFL's are the worst lights you can get. They are not economic, powerful and have the lowest CRI of any lamp. Why would...
