I'm getting a Nano! Ideas please!

As an aside, if it's on the counter - make sure the kidlets don't "help you" and feed it... Take a little extra to go a long way towards a messup. It sounds nice.

    Getting Closer

Same size sand? I've not heard of that second stuff, so I was wondering.

Very clean setup - nice choices inside, as well. Kudos!

deep sand bed have it or not?

No problem, glad to help. One other thing - you mentioned your sandbed becoming "compact". You can "turn" it manually by getting along wooden dowel and just "tilling" one small area at a time. You wouldn't do the entire DSB, but just a little bit at a time - as necessary if it does start...

Did Bristle Worms kill my clown...really? (with pics)

I've no doubt there are plenty bigger than Wormzilla. I have a feeling that pup was just getting started. It would be cool to see the biggest one someone has. I know Smitty fed a lot and that helped his worms.

sadest end of our greatest marine fish store

Not random... Definitely. Random would mean breaking glass out with pellet guns. Bleaching is chemically-planned killing. I'll get back to this, but as mad as this makes ya'll, this is the type of stuff Saddam did to people over in Iraq... IMO, justification enough for getting that rat-turd...

My nitrates are a little high.

I gotta chime in here. I battled nitrates for a number of years - and during that time lost not a single fish. I had to bring some back because of their size - and that was rotten. :( While nitrates at these sky-high levels (I was so far off every chart available) don't harm the fish...

Hi Mandy - Glad you liked the info - I'll PM ya about Ohio, since it would totally hijack an already antiquated thread! hahaha

CPD - MOST AWESOME. LOL That is too cool. I can't wait to show Little Man when he comes home from school. He'll definitely think "It's The Best Day Ever....." :D :D

Did Bristle Worms kill my clown...really? (with pics)

Riverserver has the right idea - scoop some out and put 'em in gladlock containers and you'll find someone wanting to seed their tank. You'll never run out, unless you poison them all. I had triggers that had to learn the hard way. I didn't see the action, but I certainly recognized the...

Did Bristle Worms kill my clown...really? (with pics)

Not to rain on the parade, but removing what you see will result in the same picture very shortly. ;) If you have those worms out 'n about like that, you haven't even scratched the surface of what ya got in there. ;) They'll balance out the population on their own. It will still be a huge...

    Reef Wallpapers

Ah, rubbish! ;) If your camera doesn't work, find someone that has an 8 megapixel. I shoot with a Canon Digital Rebel XT, and at 8 megapixel set to the highest quality I might use 3 mb per shot, but the pic will fill a 22" LCD monitor just fine, and it's crystal clear. I say "rubbish"...

deep sand bed have it or not?

Eggcrate is referred to as that plastic "grid" typical of what you might find in some lighting fixtures. That still might not explain it well, so just imagine a sheet of hard plastic about 1/4 - 1/2" thick. Now, cut out equally spaced squares leaving a thin space between each of them. You...

Hi Mandy - I'm in Columbus. Ich is always a fun topic, huh? ;) I was going to jump out and agree immediately that an "automatic QT treatment" is of course a good idea for anything put in a tank. :D THEN I saw the part about "with hypo". I would agree, that wouldn't be met with the most...

Help! Chain link eel not eating

Agreed with Jojo - try some raw, thawed seafood. Ideally, you will want to work at this. Stabbing a huge tong with a shrimp may not work. And it may work too late. You have got to get this eel eating, or it will die. Plain and simple, don't want to sugarcoat it. That may seem like the...

Hey, this is an OLD thread, but I'm catching up. I had to respond about the snails. In particular, I wanted to address Mandairn (thanks for the kind words, also!). I do NOT know the specifics, but I can tell you this. The parameters vary greatly and it's not so much "where" snails can...

Cowfish in a reef, is it possible? has anyone ever seen it?

Sorry... I'm catching up on stuff - NIKO was spot-on above. The torch has been passed - my bad, and sorry about that Niko. I don't want anyone else being confused - I hail from way back in the day, and the name Reefscape was that of the former. And I've since chatted with Niko without ever...

Marine Discussion: Substrate in marine tanks

A little big of trivia which was experimented with... I don't get the credit, but I trust Rob Toonen, and we were yapping about this. He told me nitrates were still being leached in lab tanks with 14 inch CC substrates. I trust him, because he said they were in his lab. And he was on his...

    got2envy's 12g JBJ Nano cube..lotsa pics

Very nice. The only blennie I've ever had was an algae - I don't know what kind you are considering, but I think an algae needs more room than that. They like to have a few different "landing spots". If you have harmony now, that's a good thing. It would be easy to start a riot with the...
