    Increased water evaporation!

I am actually on the losing end of this phenomenon this winter. I had 13 two year old goldfishes that were in there. After a short freeze over of the pond, the next day almost all of the water was gone. Panicking, I added water and forgot to add de-chlorinator…well I have lost a number of my two...

    Increased water evaporation!

It’s a hard plastic that of material in the shape of an eight. As for filter, I have been using a pond mater 2000. I also have a 700 UVC pressure-flo high performance system which I was planning on installing as soon as I pick up a pump. I don’t think it’s a hole in the pond because when the...

    Increased water evaporation!

My 350+ pond is losing about 50% of water everyday since the weather became cold. If the filter is running, the pond then loses about 75% of water in the course of 24 hours? What could be causing this? I can see no visible sign of damage. It was the same story last year when the water got cold...

My New Years Resolution (might be a bit early)!

Thank very much, you guys have been very helpful. I have some more questions... 1. Is it wise to cure both live sand and live rock in the main tank? 2. I read that non-live sand has to be seeded, what about the uncured live rock? 3. Can I go with 55 lbs. of each in a 55 gallon tank, or...

As a year begins a new, people from the age of old has always wish to improve their lives. For me, it simple really…I wish to tackle the other side of the aquatic hobby, known as reef. I have been with the freshwater game for awhile, but for some reason or another I have always shied away from...

    Possible air in fish stomach?.

Possible air in fish stomach…. I have this Wolfish that has been in my recovery tank for about two-three weeks now. About three days ago I notice that it was floating upside down. I thought he was a goner, but the Wolfish was still alive. The wolfish has gotten healthy, but stills floats to the...

    Fish scratching against tanks objects...

I am using the liquid master test kit. I don’t know, guess one too many water changes...as long as they are healthy, eating, then all is well.

    My Fish Tanks (photos)

UPDATE Well I finally found and caught my Largemouth Bass…two in fact! They are really small, and that has made me very nervous about putting them in with my Smallmouths and Oscar. So I am currently raising them in a 20 gallon tank in my room. As soon as they gain some weight I’ll transfer...

    Fish scratching against tanks objects...

Here’s an update, very single parameter except ammonia has dropped down to their lowest number as possible (nitrate and nitrite are at 0 which seems a little odd). Ammonia has been at a constant 4.0 for about a week now. I have been doing 50% percent water change every two days, while using...

    Fish scratching against tanks objects...

The tank has been up and running for almost a year...I sort of neglected maintaining the tank for a while, and now I must correct my mistake. I’ll try your remedy for the 50% water change. I hope it works...

    Fish scratching against tanks objects...

The flashing started around the fourth water change, I doubt its parasites. It’s a huge 125 gallon and if I do a 50% water change, the chlorine in the tap water will get them. I do use stress coat to purify the water, but I have loss fish doing large water changes. I’ll try increasing the amount...

    Fish scratching against tanks objects...

About two weeks ago, I did a water test and the results were really bad...everything was off the charts. So I have been doing small amounts of water changes every two days, trying to bring it back down. I noticed that a few of my fishes started to scratch themselves against tank objects...I...

Thank you, but I also took their growth rate into consideration. The Smallmouth Bass can always find sanctuary in my outdoor pond if it starts acting claustrophobic. And as a cold water fish, it will do find during the winter months ahead. The Sliver Arowana is around 8 inches and has a slow...

    My Fish Tanks (photos)

Thank you! The Oscar bullies every big fish, eats Minnows, crushes Crayfish, but has yet to bother my Angels...I consider myself lucky...maybe it’s the luck of the Koi. The tank size is 125 gallons.

Thank you, and I raised everyone (not from fry state, but the smallest the stores are allowed to sale them), except the Oscar and the Smallmouth Bass (I recently caught them). Everyone is in the same tank except the six Piranhas and Pacu...they are way too small and would probably become...

Well I just got a new digi-cam, so I thought I’d give you guys a glimpse of my tanks. Enjoy... Here are my Angels...the other there in the top left are babies, while the one in the lower right corner is the biggest (about 3 inches). The baby leopard Angel is my favorite of them all...

    African Black Crayfish

They could be regular Crayfishes since I have a couple that looks the same way (some black and orange/red mix). I get them form a bait shop; never seen them that color before. I have also seen some blue Crayfishes (lobsters) which those colors. And you’re right, there doesn’t seem to be any info...
