I would rule out the RD/Midas , you probally wont have any plants left. My Rd destroys my tank, constantly digging and moving things around. The filter intakes are not even safe, But he is the coolest fish I have ever had.
I would add in some bloodworms frozen and some earthworms, nightcrawlers when they get bigger. Mine love freeze dried plankton good for them to. Frozen shrimp is also good. I would back off with the beefheart lots of fats.
I kinda like my large RD. He has a attitude on who is charge of the tank. He thinks he is , but I will prove to be the winner! But rearranging is a understatement mine ....well makes a complete mess. We fight during every water change. Its like going into battle. You would think that he would...
I replaced my 304 tubes and intake. The 304 3/4 inch tubing fits perfect, and check out the ehiem installation kits at dr fosters they are great. Your 204 maybe a little smaller maybe 5/8. I am so happy to be rid of those crappy ribbed tubes, and I swear my flow was increased also. :dance
I aways do at least 50% a week never lost a fish due to water change. People that never do water changes are gonna lose fish. Some fish are tougher and can deal with waste better than others. But its always disaster just waiting. To the people that dont do w/c's just ask them the lifespan of...
Sorry about your fish. I would not waste any time getting another fish. Looking at a empty well almost empty tank is not a good thing. I do feel for you I know you did your best. Maybe a wild oscar from jeff rapps?
Here is my 2 cents. I would not dream of feeding my fish feeder goldfish from the lfs. No way. But I do use feeders. I raise guppies and if you know anything about guppies evetually you will have too many. So thats how I get rid of the excess. So my advice to anyone who has a fish that they feel...

Got them done easy fit, no leaks, suction cups that work. Quality eheim and the flow is dramically increased.
Today is the the day Im gonna swap out those crappy fluval hoses. What I did was .... Bought the eheim installation sets from dr. fosters. This comes with a intake tube and spray bar. Got the 16/22 mm size. These have the screw down clamps and 3/4 tubing fits perfect. The intake has the same way...
