Where to order healthy plants in Canada

Been away for a while. You should look for a fish club in your area. They would know the best place to get plants. Sorry but I was hoping you were in Ontario as I could have helped you out a little more. Good luck.

    florida Tank?

It sounds like a great set up but I would leave out the Heterandria Formosa. They are small enough, especially the males to be a meal for both the flag fish and the Pygmy sunfish. Is this just a varient of the Elassoma evergladie or a different species? Now all you need is some type of native...

What happens if large tanks shatter?

I kinda think you folks all missed one really obvious fact. If the earthquake was storng enough to do this type of damage, how much house is going to be left to worry about? Not living in an earthquake area I am not familure with them but I would think if it is bad enough to shatter your tank...

    My Albino Corys

ChilDawg, what do you consider small? Whatasave, you want to be more specific as to what small is. That would be helpful. They should get to about 7cm(2.8 inches). How big are they?

    sand sifters ?

Depending on the other fish in the tank and tank set up you could use the Geophagus cichlids. These are after all the Earth Eaters.

Keyhole cichlids would be a good choice I think. Smallish, peaceful and not torpedo shaped.

That place is the most amazing fish store. I make the trip from Toronto at least 3 times a year. More if at all possible. Great, great place, I think everybody should visit that place.

how do you cut a hole in a clay pot right in the middle of the pot so that itdontcrak

This is a fairly easy thing to accomplish. You will need a drill and a masonary bit. Take the bit and drill a bunch of holes in the shape opening you want. Place the holes as close together as you can, then just take a hammer and tap out the center piece. This method works for me.

Riccia or live cultures in Canada

Kaylee Skylyn and Matak you should find some types of easy to care for live food cultures by contacting a local fish club. You can find the clubs at http://www.caoac.on.ca/FramesetMain.html . You may want to attend an auction just to see everything there is up for offer at these events. Plants...

    Rhom Info.

OrionGirl, that would be because a rhom is not a catfish. If he is talking about the piranhas that are reffered to as rhoms that is. They are not cichlids either. They are actually related to neon tetras of all fish. A good source of info for these and other large predatory fish would be...

    Strange water color

If it is green as you say it sounds like a bloom of algae. Often reffered to as green water. It will not affect the fish in any way. There are many ways to deal with it. You will need to get rid of the nutrients feeding it and cut back a bit on the light. If you have no live plants go without...

    Sick Fish Problem

If you are unable to see any white spots then ich is not your problem. There are a host of other problems that it could be. If you are certain there are no white spots, and sounds like you are, short of doing a necropsy on one of your fish you will have to do the process of elimination. My first...

    Isn't that pretty cool...

No GobyGuy5, I agree with you whole heartedly. I have 50 plus tanks and I only use salt when it is needed for treatment of some ailment or when the fish are brackish water in origin. Other then that the only fish I put salt with are the ones on my plate that I intend to eat. Why so many people...
