I don't understand why you want to set up another tank with new fish if you released the frogs since you were to busy/couldn't afford to care for them. Maybe you should not get anything new. Why not put your poor betta in there instead of a bowl. I have a 10g with a betta and he is super...
That is a cool looking snail! I think the main con would be if he brought in some parasited or something into you tank. You could quarantine him for awhile and then add him. I have added plants to my aquarium from the river without doing anything and haven't had any problems in the past, but...
Hmm you could use something decorative to weigh it down like a potted plant or something in some/all the corners. Or if you measure just right you can get the frame to fit tightly so you have to push it into place and it won't come out very easily. The tank I have that kind of top on is like...
If you washed the filtet in tap water it will kill the bacteria on it. You can use old tank water to clean it without this. You can treat him in his own tank with daily water changes. I would remove the shrimp though.
You could build a fram that fits inside the rim of the tank out of wooden dowels and then use screen to cover the frame. Or give in and use the glass tops I guess.
Well I imagine the meds will kill any good bacteria so just use an air pump and air stone so the water is not stagnant. Then add the meds according to the directions and the size of the tank. Hopefully someone else has more detailed directions and help.
Looks good. My main concern would be the frogs getting food from what I have read about them. But since you said they seem to be doing fine Yay! for you (and them ;) )
I have moved fish only 5 hours in bags with no air and in a home depot bucket with plants before. No losses either way. I think the bucket/cooler is the way to go.
Maybe he would like sand. You could get pool filter sand or play sand for pretty cheap. Place all fish and live plants in a bucket drain the water and change the substrate. It sucks but I have done it on a 55 gallon tank.
Sounds super nice, but I thought you got rid of them in the first place because you had no room. Where will the new big tank go? I love guinea pigs too! They are so cute. Hope you find room for all your pets: furry and finned :)
