If you got your fish from reputable breeder, then you know what you are getting. If you got it from LFS...chances are they are hybrid (red devil x midas).

You also can keep certain geophagus with severum.

With rams...go by belly color. Pink belly is female. No color on belly is male.

fins aren't the best way to sex all cichlids. With Severum, sex them by facial marking. Male has more markings than female. Here's an example. Female Male
