Hey, Lips can do that :) I know of a few that are doing 3 day atm and my trainer will be taking my mare for a week to see if her enthusiasm for jumping has any talent behind it. I sure don't have talent there :) If she does show some talent, I'll probably get a close contact saddle and better...

    Aquariumboard.com

Aw, thank you, Lady G ;) AquaFacts suffered a major database corruption and I just don't/didn't have the time to fix it. So, unfortunately, I had to shut it down. Aside from the rainbowfish site, I also run my art site (http://RoanArt.com) and my Lipizzan site (http://LipizzanWorld.com). That...

ROFL! Well, you can't have bows with out rocks with purple string, that's for sure. It especially looks nice on boesemani and pagwi ;) Roan

    wow. rummynoses.

I bought my rummy nose from LiveAquaria.com over two years ago and I still have my school of 10. No problems shipping or acclimating at all. I've not lost a one. They are gorgeous fish. Roan

    fish buddies?

I completely missed something when I was posting and erred -- I would not recommend housing SDs in a 75g tank, or any tank that is shorter than 24" in height. SDs are very tall fish and you need to include the anal and dorsal fins in their height. This isn't obvious when they are in the tank and...

OH, geez, what're you doing here, XMan? Can't believe this thread is STILL going on and someone actually made a domain from it. ROFL! Roan

    fish buddies?

I'd agree with rbishop on the tank size -- a 75/90g. I would disagree with having rainbowfish as tankmates, however. One reason is that rainbowfish need cool temperatures and best for them is 75*. If you put bows in a warm tank you are asking for an outbreak of columnaris -- you don't want that...

    Spawning Madagascar Rainbow Question

Cathy, Not sure if that's you on Bowheads, but I was cruising by here and caught your post. Yes, the male will fertilize more than one female's eggs. When i spawn my bows I put one male and two females in the tank. That way my spawn are more diversified and the females get a chance to...

    Rainbowfish spawning...

That's great! How are the fry doing now? I'm in the process of spawning my Melanotaenia duboulayi. It's amazing how laid back they were in their large tank, but once I moved a male and two females to the spawning tank, the male turned into a viscious monster. I think I'll move him out...

    Rainbowfish spawning...

Mine eat any and all they see, regardless of size -- but I lose most doing a regular water change in the tanks. When I breed I move the parents or the mop to a spawning tank and raise the fry in there. Exactly. Some parts of PNG the water gets in excess of 102* around the shoreline where the...

    Rainbowfish spawning...

    1. Rainbowfish DO eat their own fry 2. Fry need temps of 82-84* 3. Fry are very sensitive to changes in water chemistry. Most breeders do not change fry tank water for 8 weeks 4. Feed infusoria or vinegar eels for the first week, then BBS Roan

Cories in a good school have silly moments. Consider this a "thank you" for making sure they had enough friends to hang with. Glad they are playing now ;) Roan

    Ick and vacation disaster

The only time salt leaves your tank is via water changes, so yes, if you change the water you need to add in salt to compensate for what you remove and readd. The idea is to get the salt level to about 2 teaspoons per gallon and keep it there. Does that help? Roan
